First of all, can you give us a short introduction of
Psy-Kick?
Virus (vocals, guitars and synths): Psy-Kick is a
new band, we started out in 2004 when some of us decided
to move away from our black metal bands and start
something new. That's how we started Psy-Kick, which is
a cyber industrial metal band, based on Sao Paolo,
Brazil.
At the time of this interview, the members of Psy-Kick
are:
Zasvanna - Vocals
Scorn - Guitars
Virus - Vocals, guitars, synths, effects programming &
drum programming
Mantuus - Bass (only a session member now)
The (famous) Brazilian metalscene consist of bands
like Sepultura, Soulfly, Krisiun and Lymphatic Phlegm. I
don’t really know some industrial bands from Brazil. How
is the industrial metal scene in Brazil and how do the
Brazilian people react on Psy-Kick?
Virus: Honestly, I think that the industrial
metal scene in Brazil is underdeveloped, but it is
starting to grow (really late, but even so...). Even for
us, playing industrial metal is something relatively new,
we were members of the black metal scene and have only
recently started on the industrial metal scene. Anyway,
lately there have been lots of events of industrial
metal and dark electro stuff, and the audience has been
bigger every time, so I think that's an indication of a
growth in the industrial metal movement in Brazil. Also,
in some cyber/goth parties and some gothic raves, some
DJ's have played the songs of Psy-Kick, and the reaction
has been really good, people dancing, people rockin'...
And the people that has had the opportunity to listen to
Psy-Kick (through mp3 or our promo-CD) has liked it a
lot; hey, at least that's what they say!
What are your musical influences?
Virus: Many... The Kovenant, Deathstars, Marilyn
Manson, Rammstein and so on... Also, some Dark Electro
acts, like Aslan Faction, Hocico, etc.
Two songs are downloadable at this very moment. Will
they appear on a future demo, and when will the demo be
released?
Virus: Yes, they will appear on a future demo,
but they will surely change quite a bit (from their
present form) until they are released on a demo. Those
two songs appeared on a promo-CD that we gave away to
some selected people here in Brazil, we distributed it
to DJ's, fanzines, friends, etc. And to others, the
songs are downloadable from our site. We are planning on
releasing a demo-CD in february '05.
What can we expect of the future demo?
Virus: Psy-Kick on its first attempt at world
domination!
Any other plans for the future?
Virus: Our plans are always keep making songs,
always trying to innovate. Release some more songs. We
have scheduled some tests with drummers and keyboard
players in the first days of 2005, so our plans about
that are to introduce some new members in the band and
start playing live already. From there on, time will
tell...
Good luck with everything you will do in the future,
and thanks for answering my questions. Some final words?
Virus: Thank you for the opportunity you gave us
of spreading the word about Psy-Kick. To everyone, visit
our website http://www.psy-kick.cjb.net, and get in
touch with us. Our e-mail: psykickweb@yahoo.com
And thanks for your patience on reading all the way to
here.
