The bandname
T3CHN0PH0B1A is not a very regular one. How did you came
up with a name like this?
Snuff 238 Mazend (vocals): Our name derives from
a strange psychological pathology: fear of technological
development. Will machines overcome human mind? We'll be
able to follow an harmless progress or we're already
embracing our self-destruction weapons? However the
ironical side of the monicker T3chn0ph0b1a is clearly
explained by our sound. People maybe will expect all but
electronics by reading our name, but they'll find a
really different stuff. Numbers contained in our
bandname correspond at our genesis year (3001) too. And,
of course, is a name simple to remember.
Who came up with the idea of forming T3CHN0PH0B1A?
Snuff 238 Mazend: 5k0tt, Von Cyberskin and me. We
had the idea to create and Industrial Metal band,
something that could like electrogoth people but could
be appreciated by metalheads too. All came up in a while:
we founded it, we wrote the songs and we went to
recording studio after just three months or less. We
support the "one shot one kill" philosophy; no need to
think too much about what we have to do. We simply do it,
taking instruments and trying to kick asses and destroy
ears.
When I first heard the music, a band who came up in
my mind at first was THE KOVENANT. Are they the only
influence to you guys?
Snuff 238 Mazend: We were mainly associated to
The Kovenant by many reviews, I admit that Lex Icon's
band was fundamental to build our sound, but, hearing
with more accuracy the product, you can find many other
inspirations. Who can tell it? Surely the audience will
be able to notice them. Everyone gave his opinion, we
were related to bands far light years from our
sound...the funniest were Marilyn Manson and
Kraftwerk...I like these artists but I think they're
totally different from our music. But remember: we're a
band, not a clone or a 'collage' of other bands. Our new
songs are more personal and sound just like
T3chn0ph0b1a, and nothing more!
Your promo cd received some good reviews from
different zines. Did you expect this kind off success in
the beginning of your career?
Snuff 238 Mazend: Honestly we never expected this
audience answer; almost everyone who listens to us seems
to enjoy us. I tell only two little words about it:
"THANK YOU!". I never thought humans could be so kind!
Eheheheh...
You write all the lyrics for T3CHN0PH0B1A. I myself
think those lyrics are great, but isn’t it a bit
difficult to write lyrics about these subjects?
Snuff 238 Mazend: Uhm...I need just the time to
get a piece of paper and a pen...not so difficult...I
think about my fav books or movies and the work is
completed! I also like to insert quotes or elements
related to my favourite artists...
One of the lyrical subjects is life in outer space.
Do you believe in aliens yourself, and if you do, do you
think they like T3CHN0PH0B1A?
Snuff 238 Mazend: It would be ridiculous imaging
earthlings the only form of life in the entire universe.
Some humans claim to be the only materilized existence,
that's silly, how can the meaning of life be incarnated
in a flawful inferior race? Humans ARE someone's other
aliens. But, goddamn, last night I saw a flying saucer
dancing on the "F.I.A.T." bassline! Power of alcohol +
caffeine?
Got any plans for the future?
Snuff 238 Mazend: We planned to record new stuff
but we're yet keeping it top secret. We got many songs
completed and ready (you can hear some of them during
our gigs) but we can't absolutely reveal our future
plains in the details; surely next release will not be a
complete album, we're yet searching for a label to do
it... But I promise you many surprises...prepare your
human mind...for a new project
involving...eheheheh....can't tell. About an European
tour...we are here...free for live bookings...
Thanks a lot. Any last words to the earthlings?
Snuff 238 Mazend: Thanks for this original
interview and stay tuned on our site
www.t3chnophob1a.com (and our messageboard too) to know
more about our xenothropic activities...Aliens are on
the rise!
