How was Forgotten Sunrise born?
Anders (vocals): Forgotten Sunrise started in 1992. In 1993 we already released our first demo and get a deal for a mini-cd that was released in 1994 by Finnish "Rising Realm Records". The idea to form a band came from me... so we just started with this idea with my class-mate and best friend Jan (now the guitar-player of Solwaig), and quite soon we found the drummer and guitar-player and the band was born. We have been experimenting with the music since the very beginning. We have been always seaching for some originality and finding our own way, and you can hear it on every release we have.

The music on the first demos was pretty symphonic, with some gothic and death metal influences. Why did you decide to walk the industrial path?
Anders: Hmmmmmmm, I think we are still influenced a lot by death metal, electro/gothic stuff. I can`t call Forgotten Sunrise industrial... we play deathbeat as I love to call it. We are influenced a lot by EBM, breakbeat, death metal, dark wave, techno, drum`n bass, jazz, ethno etc. In the beginning we played atmospheric death metal, and after some problems our line-up changed a lot and I decided to continue Forgotten Silence with electronic beats and sounds.

What are your main influences?
Anders: When we started we were listening bands such as Xysma, Tiamat, Anathema, My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Death, Obituary, Autopsy + some grunge and thrash. Now our faves are very different on every members. 75% of our music has created by me, and my faves are Dead Can Dance, GGFH, Leaether Strip, Biosphere, all bands and projects by Andy LaPlegua, Depeche Mode, Cranes, Slowdive, Björk, Orbital, Amon Tobin, FSOL etc., plus some dark breakbeat/drum`n bass and minimal electronic stuff and also the old school death metal idols. Renno ( our guitar player) is a huge fan of latin hip-hop: The Psycho Realm, Delinquent Habits, Funkdoobiest, Cypress Hill etc. Tiiu (vocals/keyboards) loves more ambient and experimental electronic and indie stuff, from Aphex Twin, Plaid to Mum. Ott (percussions) likes a lot weird hip-hop+noise/digital hardcore+also some new wave metal bands and Andrey (bass) loves as always the bass-players... Primus, Mr.Bungle and other crazygeniousshit. So, we are quite weird soup hahaha!

Lots of (ex-)members of Forgotten Sunrise appear in lots various other metal bands. How important is it to have different metal styles influenced in a band?
Anders: I think as much open-minded you are as better it is, so it`s quite important. And I am not only talking about metal.

In West-Europe, not many bands from the former Russia are well-known. Our knowledge goes to Poland, but not much further. How is the (industrial) metal scene in Estonia?
Anders: Our scene here is very strong by now. Iit was quite dead about 5-8 years ago, but now it`s on its top. We have never had so many so cool bands here before... of course most of them are copycats, but it`s everywhere like this. Also the industrial scene is growing here all the time, and even some bands were born. About industrial metal... I don`t know much to tell you. Yes, we have some NIN`s and Fear Factories, and one very good and original so called industrial metal band Plastic Whore. You should really check them out! They are forth of it...

You were support-act of MortIIs when he played in Estonia. This must have been a huge compliment to your band. How was it to play with such a great artist and showman?
Anders: Yeah, it was great and Mortiis was the first guy who came to us and thanked me for the great performance! We have supported also Hocico (2 times), Katatonia, Moonspell and we were even the chosen act as the supporter for Rammstein`s Estonian show, but then came out that Exilia was playing the whole tour as support act and we couldn`t play there... what a disappointment!

What will happen with Forgotten Sunrise in the near future?
Anders: A new album is planned., but not before the end of the year. It will be more straight and powerful, more catchy and a lttle darker. There are also some great gigs planned: in May we`ll play in St.Petersburg and in Poland (Dark East festival) and in July we`ll go again to Poland, to Castle Party. Wolfsheim, Camouflage, The Crüxshadows, Grendel etc are the headliners over there! Also some remixes by me are in work, and we`ll release by ourself the single of "Nevr(k)now" from "Ru:mipu:dus" album. Oh, and if I find any free time, I have a plan to release an ambient solo album of my poems. I have this plan already many years and I feel now is the best time to make this true.

Thanks a lot for the opportunity for the interview. As the IndustrializedMetal.tk tradition says: Any final words to add?
Anders: Megathanx for your support!! It was the fastest interview ever for me hahaha! Sorry about my quite bad english, hopefully you get the point! Thanx once more and keep the good work up!!!!
