First of all, identify your band to the world.
Dr. Mike (guitars, programming): Scorngrain hails from Finland and we kick your ass with electronic industrial elements, hard thrashing guitar riffs and insane vocals.

When I first heard the name Scorngrain, I thought it was a new kind of Nintendo game haha. How was the name chosen, and does it have a meaning?
Dr. Mike: Hahhah, this game is for retards only!!! If I remember correctly our drummer Eniac came up with this name and we thought Scorngrain fitted us and our music very well. Scorngrain is like a bad seed on farmers shop, you sow it and when it starts growing it turns out something really strange that you canīt handle anymore.

What are your main influences? I think I hear some ...And Oceans influences from time to time...
Dr. Mike: And I think that I hear some voices... All songs are made by me and Eniac, we both listen to lots of different kind of music from the industrial genre also. But I think that our main influences come from more thrash and death metal oriented bands. So we are pure metalheads, we just like to spice up our music with industrial elements.

The band was born in 2001, and the first demo was released very quickly. How did you manage to make such a quality demo in such a short time?
Dr. Mike: We had lots of ideas and some backgrounds ready when we hit our heads together with Eniac. So we both had this idea to work with machines before we even got together. It didnīt take long ītill we had some tracks finished and we were ready to go to a studio.

How did the people in Finland react on the demo?
Dr. Mike: We got exellent feedback from Finnish metalheads! Now they worship us, hahhahh!

Very soon after the demo you got a record deal with Dynamic Arts Records. How did they found out about Scorngrain? How did you get in contact?
Dr. Mike: Yeah, after releasing the demo things started developing pretty fast. Finnish webzine called Imperiumi had a demo competition which we took part in. It was through this competition that Dynamic Arts got interested in us. Soon after this they contacted me and offered a deal. This was the only noteworthy offer so we caught the hook. So far we have been very pleased with DAR.

The debut album Cyberwarmachine got various good critics. What do you think of it yourself?
Dr. Mike: The feedback has been surprisingly good especially abroad. Some people seem to be timidited by the combination of metal and industrial. Especially the rap part in the opening track made the puritanist frown their brows. However it is important to raise some reaction in people, thatīs what music is all about. But mainly response has been good.

We know that you are going to do some shows in Russia and your videoclip just has been finished. What else can we expect in the (near) future?
Dr. Mike: Yes, we went to check out the Russian scene and it was pretty wild. The gig was also filmed on video and you will see clips of it in the future. At the moment we are making new material for our next release and we go to play live whenever we get a chance. We have plans for some weird stuff but you will hear about it later...

Again a very big thanks for your time. Like always on this site, the final words are yours.
Dr. Mike: No problem! Check out our web-hospice at www.scorngrain.com. Stay mental!
