Hi, and thanks for your time. First of all, please introduce your band to the world.
Christo (bass): Hi! I’m Christo from Deflore. I’m the bass player and the one who gets mad with all the electronic stuff! Deflore is a non conventional instrumental band. We love to search for new sounds and atmospheres, to mix it together and to create something very innovative. We have two words to define our music: ‘Pathos’ and ‘Saturation’.

You call your style "Human Indu[b]strial". What exactly ís "Human Indu[b]strial"?
Christo: We don’t like being closed in one definition, industrial metal was too tightened for us. We try to explore all the possibilities that music and technology gave us, we try to navigate thru psychedelic atmospheres like electronic dub or trip hop (we love bands like Massive Attack or Portishead) and to mix it with industrial beats. We decided to give to our style a brand new name: ‘Human Indu[b]strial’. Human because our music is real (we play everything and we try to recreate all the sound during the live shows) Indu[b]strial it’s a mixed world that want to mean ‘Industrial in dub’..

What are your main influences?
Christo: I don’t have a preferred music style, I listen to almost every kind of music (excluding some shits like Linkin Park & sons) from industrial metal to electronic music, dub, trip hop and classical music (I personally love Wagner). I really don’t like to feel strong influences from other bands, I think that everyone who wants to play music must find his personal way of communicate , his own sound….like we do! However some bands I really love are Neurosis, Godflesh, Massive Attack and Autechre Fantomas to name a few.

Your debut album came out some months ago. Please give me and the readers some information about it.
Christo: “Human Indu[b]strial” it’s out on SX distribution (www.sxdistribution.de) since the 15 of November 2005, and it will soon be reprinted for the English distribution Pro-Sonic (PHD). You can also find “Human Indu[b]strial” on digital distributions like I-Tunes and Napster. I think it is a very good album, complete and introspective… it kinda represents our life, our point of view on music and the world we live in. We’ve done hard work on it, we’ve been experimenting a lot, trying new sound solutions and implementing new instruments like metals, saws and radio noises etc... you will surely love it! (yeah my ego is my bestfriend…heheheh!!!)

You are on a pretty new and independent label, SubSound Records, which currently only has two bands signed. How did you get in touch with them?
Christo: Subsound Records is a brand new independent label from Rome that gave us the possibility to produce a good album. Davide “The Boss” believe in us and is trying to create a new italian scene of electronic noise rock! Davide (he is also a good independent director) produced our first videoclip “Incudine” during 2002, then he fell in love with our music and two years later we signed the contract with the newborn Subsound Records.

Why did you decide to take the step to a newborn label in stead of releasing some more demos to watch out for other offers?
Christo: Well actually I really don’t know! We play togheter since 1999 and we love composing music, but we dislike the music business itself and we don’t like all the work that you have to do to try to find a label and produce (or probably co-produce) an album. Subsound Records is a newborn label, but with great ideas and an intelligent way to look at the music. Davide produced all the album like a big label: he gave us lots of time without any pressure to record the album, he arranged a good sound engeneer (Andrea Secchi) and the mastering was done at Finnvox studios in Helsinki (by Mika Jussila)! This is not really the style of an indi label!

What can we expect of Deflore in the future?
Christo: I really think that wé are the future! Maybe a little reality but that looks forward to innovation and power! Great live sets that everyone cant miss during our next tour! And we are near to shoot the first videoclip from the Human Indu[b]strial album, probably of the song “Emostatico”. Brand new merchandising is coming up too, like t-shirt, pins, stickers etc.. and be sure you can expect another album in the next year!

Thanks a lot for your time! Something to add? The final words are yours.
Christo: Not a lot to add, only one thing for the readers: “never stop to search….there’s always something different.”
