First of all, please
introduce your band to the readers.
MXD was born in the mid-nineties in Vallorbe,
Switzerland. In the beginning the line-up was: Alex and
Solex(machines) and Oli(guitars). The band released his
first album"electrolab inc" in 1998. Then I joined it in
1999 and put the first voices in the kind of demo album
"doping the beat" one year later. In 2002, MXD released
"musicogenic" which is the first real homogenic album of
the gang. 2 years later, oli left the band and
drop(Sybreed) joined it.We are lucky, this guy can do
everything..he began to record "Frustration is fuel" in
june 2005, he mixed it during july and the album was out
november the 1st....For the last 8 years, Mxd played a
lot in Switzerland,France Germany and Netherlands...with
bands like junkie, XL, The young gods, the chemical
brothers and many others...
MXD sounds like a shortcut of three words. What is
the meaning of your bandname?
It's a secret combination of words...you can find the
meaning page 237 of Da vinci Code if you read the 17th
line in a mirror!
What are your main influences?
Pfffffff....the list is too long...so, just three bands
then...Faith No more, Young Gods, Juno reactor...!
Your new album 'Frustration is Fuel' recieved some
good rating from our zine and various other press. But
what do you think of it yourself?
I think that it's the best album of MXD, and as i think
that MXD is the best band of the world, i presume that
this album is the best of the world...logical, isn'it?
One of the songs on the record is called 'B-Trial'.
This song is sonically and lyrically different than the
rest of the album. Is this a personal song? What else
can you tell me about it?
Yes, it's a personal song..that's why I cannot say
anything more about it. No seriously it's about love,
friendship and all that shit when it's mixed....mixed=MXD?Imagine
your best friend with your girlfriend...lies, hate, pain,
bad vibes, paranoia, and all the best!
Why did you decide to do a Killing Joke cover?
We did it for a local festival in 2004 called"lausanne's
burning" the idea was that all bands from this city had
to do three covers of their best nineties albums..So, we
choose "Useless" by Depeche mode, "kissing the sun" by
the young gods and "Pandemonium" by Killing. But it's
really frustrating to play this cover just once, so we
decided to play it live and finally to put it on this
new album...This year we played in "lausanne's burning"
again and we must do cover of bands that begin with the
same letter as our band's name...We choose this time
"get up stand up" by Marley, "pump up the volume" by
Marrs and "ace of spades" by motorhead, so maybe wou
will find it on our next album in 2007!
Your album was released on Equilibre Music. They
already proved that they have good view on original
bands like Zuul FX and Crack ov Dawn. How did you get in
contact with them, and what did the label do to support
you so far?
Mika our manager took contact with Equilibre...or they
did it first, honestly i dont' remember the story.. you
know, i never remember this kind of stuff'cause i've got
holes in my brain..Concerning the label.i think it's
doing a good job if you can ask me the question! A
worldwide distribution, that's fuckin'cool!
The music you make is excellent for a powerful live
performance. What can a stranger expect when he visits
an MXD gig?
Having the best party of his life....For me, a great
show begins in the backstage before the gig and finishes
naked at the bar after it! Mxd live, it's the guarantee
of the best of the worst of an extreme electrorock
party! Beware of the hangover!
What can we expect of MXD in the future?
Touring across Europe and working on our next album..and
oh i forgot it, in few weeks we'll release our new video
for the song"b-trial". and..Do you want a scoop? Maybe
the next album will be called"the subtle art of
self-destruction"...but keep that for you!
The interview ends here, thanks again for your time.
If you have something to add you can do it here.
If you need information, take a look at

to your friends about our music if you like it! Thanx
