First of all, please introduce your band to the readers.
Fernando (vocals): Well, first of all thank you for your support and thanks to all people who supports the industrial scene in Europe! Noesis is an industrial band from Spain. Our music is a mix between metal and industrial with some techno. Samples and keyboards with metal and melodic guitars, acoustic drums and melodic vocals. Our influences go from Pain or Paradise Lost to Suicide Commando or Hocico, so you can get an idea of our music.

How did things get started with the band?
Fernando (vocals): Well, Noesis was born as an experimental project, and the idea was to combine metal and melodic guitars with an electronic base and programmed drums. First we were three members (two guitar/programming and keyboards). Later we decided to include a “human drummer” and a bassplayer. Finally, in 2005 the band was complete with the actual line-up:
- Fernando Navarro: guitar and vocals
- Fernando G. Rebolledo: guitar
- Jose Molina: Keyboards and programming
- Alfonso B.: Bass
- Sergio S.: Drums
With the complete line-up we started to play concerts with several bands, and in 2006 we recorded our first album “When All Colours Are Dead” (out on Psycofonia Records), in digipack format with 10 songs plus 1 bonus track (sang in Spanish) plus 3 videoclips.

Why did you pick this bandname? And has it any special meaning?
Fernando (vocals): Noesis is a philosophic word. It comes out of the Greek language, and it means something like ‘inteligent thinking’ or ‘intuition’. It refers to all that means to think, specially to the intelligent thinking. Plato said that Noesis is the higher rank of knowledge and the only way to know the true reality.

What are your main influences, and how would you describe your music?
Fernando (vocals): As I said before, our influences comes from metal to techno. We all have played in another metal bands, more extreme ones. Sergio (drums), Alfonso (bass) and I (Fernando, guitar) have played in a death/black band called Fatal Portrait, and Fernando (vocals) and Jose (Keyboards) played in Crystal Moors, a pagan metal band. So, we always liked metal, and we decided to create Noesis because we also like techno, ebm, etc. and we wanted to do something mixing both. Our music is something like a mix of metal with industrial and techno. Some people said we sound like Paradise Lost, other say it’s more industrial like Rammstein. That’s why music is great: the same music can sound different for everybody.

The album `When All Colours Are Dead` came out a little time ago, and it received various good reviews (including ours!). But, what do you think of the album yourself?
Fernando (vocals): “When All Colours Are Dead” was recorded 9 or 10 moths ago. And yes, the album has received various good reviews (I’m glad you like it). In general we like the stuff we did with the album. We know the production is not the best, but we’re not worried because we think that the final work is good. When you record an album you always think it would be better with more time or more money, but I think it’s a good album. Also I think the art work (make by our vocalist, Fernando Navarro), the digipack format and the 3 videos (recorded in a festival we played last year with professional cameras) are incentives to pick our album.

Did you expect these kinds of feedback this soon already? And what is the biggest compliment you've recieved on the album so far?
Fernando (vocals): We didn’t expect those comments about our music. Since we released the album and people started to listen to it, most comments are good. We are delighted about it. When we were recording the album we didn’t know how people would react to it, because in Spain, and in our part Cantabria, this is not a kind of music people listen to a lot.

What can people who blindly buy it expect of it?
Fernando (vocals): People will find an album to have a good time; you will find metal riffs in this album and you will discover how the metal and the techno can be together in the same music. And if you don’t want to buy it blindy, you can listen to it first on our website, and if you like it you can buy it of course. We are very proud on “When All Colours Are Dead”!

What is your favourite song on the album and why?
Fernando (vocals): Well, I like the whole album (of course hehe), but if I have to pick one song in particular I think I would pick "Should I...", because I think that song is a good introduction to Noesis: programming and metal. Metal guitars, melodic voice and good programming. But I think there are more songs that I would choose as a "favourite", like "Inside Of Pain", "Monochromatic...", "Lost In Quasars",... haha!

On the album there's also a Spanish track. Why did you decide to do a track in Spanish? Is this just a one time experiment or can we expect more Spanish songs of Noesis?
Fernando (vocals): We decided to record a Spanish track while we were in the studio. We thought it would be good to record a bonus track in Spanish, because it's our language and here in Spain people would understand better in Spanish. It was an experiment while we were in the studio, but we liked it. Here in Spain that song has worked very well and I think in the future we'll record more songs in Spanish for sure.

There are some cool industrial metal acts in Spain (Blood, Code Name, Rave Party Animals, Krell...). How is the industrial scene in Spain?
Fernando (vocals): I think there are a very good level of industrial bands in Spain, like all that you say. But this is not the most popular music, you know. Industrial, techno-industrial, etc. is a kinf of music that is growing slowly in Spain and everyday there are more people who start to like this kind of music. Also there are people who are into music like EBM, dark music and things like that. Metal people in Spain are starting to find out that there are more music than black, death, thrash, etc. and I think it's good. The variety is the good taste!

What can we expect of Noesis in the near future?
Fernando (vocals): We're now promoting this album, and playing live as much as we can, because we think this is the best way to promote our band. In the near future we want to play all we can, hehe. Also we're making new songs and preparing our shows. We want people who go our shows enjoy our music and our show. In the future we would like to record another album with new material and a bigger promotion, but now "When All Colours Are Dead" is the main job of Noesis.

The interview ends here, thanks a lot for your time. If you have something to add, the final words are all yours.
