Please introduce Omega Lithium to the readers of our webzine.
Hi! First thank you for your interest in Omega Lithium! We are a band from Croatia playing industrial gothic metal.

Your band only exists since March 2007. How did things get started?
It was an obsession of me to start a band that should use a lot of electronic elements mixed with metal. So Klaj (our drummer and a lifetime good friend of me) was interested to join me in this "strange" project (the Croatian scene actually never had a band of this genre so we were outsiders), and not too long after that our good friend Zoltan joined us on bass guitar. We started playing some instrumentals, experimenting the possibilities of the computer and various synths, and then we started the search for a vocalist. First we searched for a male vocalist, but soon we realized that things would be cooler if we actually had a girl singing and screaming (laughing). So, one night we were hanging out and we met Andrea... we asked her to join us, which she did, and here we are!

Why did you pick this bandname, and who came up with it?
Uuuh... thats quite a long story hehehe... So we can just say that Lithium is a type of mineral (a soft alcal metal). Omega is the final letter from the Greek alphabeth. Lithium is also a cure for drug addiction, mania, paranoia and various other disorders. There are many ways to understand our name (it is more like a metaphor for various things). Omega Lithium could be "The final cure" or whatever you desire. We’d rather hear how they look upon our name from people themselves in stead of explaining our name by ourselves.

What are your main influences?
My personal influences were always bands like Tristania, Type O Negative, Laibach, Depeche Mode, In Flames (old stuff), Rammstein, Therion, some more Gothenburg sound bands, Muse, some Croatian rock bands and a whole lot of music that you hear everywhere during the day... But I must say that we drag more inspiration from real life situations, books and some good movie instead of other music.

And how would you describe your music?
Hard metal riffing with electronics mixed in a gothic atmosphere.

October 2007 you released your first EP, called 'Andromeda'. First a practical question; what the Hell does that mean?
Andromeda is the title track of our EP. So the name comes from the track. Andromeda talks about a genetically created life (in this case a gorgeous women) on wich a group of scientist experiments. They realize too late that Andromeda has supernatural powers and she manages to escape, killing all the scientists just for revenge. Now she is free to walk on the surface of the earth...what will happen when she meets other people? Hehehe...

The EP recieved a good review from our webzine. What are your own views on the EP?
We think that we did an excellent job! We only exist actively since March with this band, so it was a big and hard work for us... and it is our first realese. I have no remorse about anything on the CD.

How did other press/people/fans reply on the release?
We recived a very good response from the fans and people. We must say that this EP has opened really big opportunities for us, and we are really happy about that.

What is in your opinion the best track on the EP, and why?
Thats very hard to answer for me... in fact, I don’t know which track should be described as ‘the best’ on the release. Since I wrote most of the material on this EP, my opinion can be just subjective and emotional. Maybe the opening track ‘Hollow March’ can be named my favorite one, because we always open our gigs with it and there is always a big explosion on the stage and in the crowd.

You already played a couple of live shows in the past, and some cool ones are coming up too. What can a stranger expect when he visits a live show of Omega Lithium?
Three guys and a girl giving their best, hehehe! We always try to make our performances effective with a lot of atmosphere, performance, costimography and various other releated stuff. I think we can set a good show.

One of the gigs that's coming up is a show at the Dark Fest in Italy, with Katatonia, Jesus on Extasy and others. Now, I never heard of this festival before, but it seems quite interesting. Can you give me more information about the festival, and how did you manage to get booked for it?
It is a relatively young festival so it is not a strange thing that not a lot of people have heard of it. It will be on February 24th, 2008 in Estragon (a big venue) in Bologna. There will be an event with 10 bands (including us and the ones you already mentiones, hehehe) and during the day there will be a lot of great stuff like gothic fashion reviews, interviews with writers of various comics and books, a shop for gothic and industrial lifestyle and so on. We sent them a promo pack, and they liked what they heard and invited us in the end... it was a big honor for us.

What's the message you try to spread to the people with your lyrics and your music?
Sometimes we write about real life, sometimes we write fairytales. We write about anti-drugs and how people are becoming weak this days. For each and every mental problem they have, they just take some pills and drugs to feal healed. The decadence of our society, the lack of fighting for your rights and your opinions... the mainstream is telling us what to do, what to listen, what to wear and what to think. But we are always metaphoric, so don't take our lyrics how they are written... look inbetween the lines... Oh, and we write about sex of course, hehehe!

Croatia isn't really known for a glorious metal scene. How is the scene in Croatia?
Sad... unglorious... really, really sad. Sometimes a good band emerges but the lack of interest from the media destroys every subgenre that isn't mainstream...

What are, next to music, your other passions in life?
Actually I have no time for other hobbies! I am giving 200% of myself to Omega Lithium and music! But when we get some free time we love to play some tabletop role playing game (yes...we are geeks hehe) and of course we love to hang out.

What can we expect from Omega Lithium in 2008?
A lot of good things! We have big plans and we will do big things...

The interview ends here, thanks a lot for your time. If you have any final words, please add them here.
Thank you for your time too! Hope to see all of you soon on some gig!
