First of all, can you give us a short introduction about your band?
Hello Gerardo! We want to thank you and the Industrialized Metal Webzine for getting in touch with us! About our band - Chrisallys was born earlie 2003 as a union between me, Billy SMK (vocalist, songwriter – ex Skinmask), and Martin Adolfi (guitars, keyborads and programming), with a big influences of 80’s darkwave gothic bands such as The Sisters of Mercy and The Mission Uk, but with metal and industrial turns and a fresh and personal sound. In 2004 we released our first album, " ReBorn", in Argentina, on Twilight Records, featuring many guest musicians from Lamia and Animal. The album had real good reviews from the local and international press. After, we were picked as support act for Hocico at their first show in Argentina, and we have been interviewed by Brunno Kramm, to participate in the documentary DVD, ‘Harmonia Mundi’ to be played at the Wave Gothik Treffen Festival in Germany. As well, we played many gigs all over Argentina. Now the band is recording their new album, ‘Sacred Fire’, that will include a cover song from Depeche Mode, "Sister of Night" , that will also be included in a German Depeche Mode Tribute called "Depeche Rock Covers Vol. 1", and also in a tribute in Argentina.

How did things get started?
Basically Martin got in touch with me, saying he wanted to work on a new project. He brought som sketches of songs with him, and then I told him I wanted to give it a more darkwave influenced direction. He liked the idea, and so we started working on the first album right away. That was 4 years ago. Our main goal now is to get further with sound and composition, with a style that is not very common for bands from Argentina.

Now a practical question: what does Chrisallys mean?
‘Chrisallys’ is the Latin for ‘chrysalis’. We kinda liked the idea of getting into a cocoon to change our shape, metaphorically speaking this was really appealing to us – specially thinking that for the ancients, life is constant change. Next to this, we knew we would be able to deal with a lot of different views about that, in image, sound and composition. We try not to limit ourselves between composition barriers.

How would you describe your music, and what are your main influences?
Well, I think we are somewhere inbetween darkwave (with European roots) 80s dark and gothic rock, metal and industrial electro, but with many more influences. I listen to a lot of ritual, clasical and etnical music, as well some members of the band like Tool, A perfect Cicle, in flames, Motley Crue... But basically our soul is gothic darkwave. Iggy Pop, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode, and darkwave electro bands such as Wolfsheim, Funkervogt, Das Ich, Diary of Dreams and much more.

Your new album will be released soon. Could you give us some basic info about it?
This one will be a complete different thing when you compare it to our debut. More vivid, more powerful, more mistical... there´s still a lot of electro with industrial turns on some of the songs, but is a complete different approach. Even the vocals have a different treatment, the main vocals has the same gothic sound, while I added some more powerful vocal lines. Along with the composition, they have a more dynamic sound.

What can we expect of this release - why should people be buying it? Will it also be available outside Latin America?
Next to what I explained in the preverious question, I paid a lot of attention to the lyrics too. We care a lot about them, I read and investigate a lot about simbolism, antiques misticism and religion, ancient egiptian religion, Kabalah, alchemy, etc. – and mixed it with modern life. So you can read both messages in the lyrics. That´s one of the reasons why the second album will be called ‘Sacred Fire’.

According to your MySpace page - you play quite some live show. How does a Chrisallys live show look like? What can a stranger expect when he visits a Chrisallys live show?
Yes, we have been plaing a lot the past years, and I can say that we offer a really intense live performance, very powerful. We love to take our time to get connected with the audience, we are intense when the song requires it and more emotional or introspective when the passage requires it. We really love it to be able to do a mature and profesional show!

On the MySpace page we can see a flyer for a gig on which you'll be doing a Rammstein tribute. This basically gives us two questions already - why Rammstein and why a tribute show when your album is about to come out already?
We were asked to do it, and we love to do it. We all love Rammstein, but to be honest I think it´s more a marketing thing coming from the organizers. There are only going to be 3 cover songs from Rammstein, and then our own complete show. We are happy to do these kind of things too, we always include a cover song from bands we like... we played songs from The 69 Eyes, Paradise Lost, Diary of Dreams, Billy Idol, Pink Floyd, Rammstein, A Perfect Circle, Depeche Mode... indeed we play ¨Sister of Night¨ by them – which will be participating in a German tribute to the band, called ‘Depeche Mode Covers’.

What are your views on the (industrial) scene in Argentina?
Well, there are a lot of people listening to it, specially EBM, industrial and gothic electro, but there are not many bands! One of the band that do exist though, Nekrodamus, is performing a remix form a track of our new album, the opening song called ´Breed Of Cain¨, better get ready for that!

What are, next to music, your other passions in life?
Well, I train a lot! Martial arts keeps my body and soul in harmony, I can say that it changed my life and my way to live! I read a lot too, and love the outdoor sports, haha! As well – I enjoy hanging out with the other band members.

What can we expect of Chrisallys in the near future? What are the plans for right after the album release?
2009 will bring us a lot of live shows. We will be touring all over Argentina – as well Brazil, Uruguay and Bolivia, and we look forward to be able to release the album in Europe too – as well as maybe going on tour over there. We did interviews with zines from several European countries, so we look forward to go there soon!

The end of the interview lays here, thanks for your time answering the questions. If you got some final words to add, you can do it here.
