First of all, can you give us a short introduction about your band?
Ok, here we go! Splitmind was formed in early 2004. Through the hardships with experiments and line up changes, Splitmind has found itself. Briefly, Splitmind's music can be characterized as Cybermetal because of an ideal mixture of metal, industrial, electronica, etc.
How did things get started?
Things got started from the idea of making something different, distinct from others... Then soon everything went further: from the small garage to a studio and the stage.
What are your main influences?
To be honest, we've got too many... rock, metal, rap, electronica... so many names to name it!!!
Your first release came out last year, called 'The Black Form'. I haven't heard the release myself, but judging from the tracks on MySpace it's real quality. What can people who buy it expect of it?
Our debut EP 'Splitmind' was published in early 2007. It shows the mixture of dance music & punchy guitar riffs. In early 2007 we made a remake for the track named ‘Bawitdaba” and shoot the video for it. The idea of this mix consists in transforming a good rock song in ultra heavy composition with powerfull riffs and electronics using the original song chorus. This song made it on the 'Black Form' album.
The new release, called 'Brain Scan', will be released very soon. Could you give us some basic info about it?
'Brain Scan' will contain six tracks - 1) Fade, 2) Oblivion Game, 3) The Sun Rising, 4) Bawitdaba, 5) Lust for Power and 6) My God. We recorded and mixed it in Matrix Studio, and it will be a total DIY release (all done by ourselves, without any record label involvements). The release date is planned for November 10th.
What can we expect of the new release?
The new release is certainly a big step forward for us. On this record we have more variety of vocal parts and lyrics, as well it includes feroucious drums and more good quality synths & arrangements.
What are in your opinion the main improvements noticeable on 'Brain Scan' while compared to 'The Black Form'?
First of all we had some changes in our line up, now we have powerful growl vocal works and of course clean vocals too (we felt like we missed that on “Black Form”). Now it sounds just bigger, in the aggregate it brings Splitmind to the next level adding more energy and a full sound.
What are your views on the (industrial) scene in Estonia?
There are a couple events which take place each month, there are a few good industrial bands... thats about it!
What are, next to music, your other passions in life?
Partying, alcohol, girls... as it should be in rock & roll!
What can we expect of Splitmind in the near future, next to the album release?
We hope that next release will be issued by a record label, anyway it takes some time...
The end of the interview lays here, thanks for your time answering the questions. If you got some final words to add, you can do it here.
First of all thanks to all the fans for supporting us. Hope to see you guys some day & hope you like our new stuff!!! Stay tuned...
