First of all, who or what is Visioni Gotiche - and why was it formed?
Hello to everybody ! Visioni Gotiche is a project created by Mattia M and Roby Tav. Both were involved in solo-projects but our friendship and the desire to create something togheter merging our styles has led to "invent" Visioni Gotiche.
Just as most readers of this zine probably, I completely missed your preverious releases 'Vampires' and 'Spiritism'. Can you give us some information about those releases - what did we miss when we missed them?
Well... 'Vampires' is our debut album. It's a concept album based on the figure of the Vampire. It's our most gothic album, but as well the most difficult to listen to. "Spiritism" was the soundtrack of a short horror movie of which Mattia M wrote the script for, but we made an album seperated from that. It's our most electronic album, as well the less complicated than 'Vampires'.
One of the first things that came in mind when I heard your latest release was "Goblin!". Are they one of your main influences? What other things influenced Visioni Gotiche?
We like the music of Goblin and we are probably influenced by this band as well. We listen a lot of metal and dark music and so we're influenced by these sounds. Among the bands we like are bands such as Death SS, Antonius Rex, Mario The Black Di Donato, The Cure, Nightwish, Tristania, Paradise Lost, Tiamat, Therion, Celtic Frost and much more.
Talking about your latest release 'Il Segreto del Demone: Parte 1', it had a nice review on our page. But, what do you think of the release yourself?
'Il Segreto del Demone: Parte 1' is a concept album based on a story written by Mattia M. The sound is a mix between gothic metal and dark horror sounds. We think it is our best work so far. We think that is our best album, the most mature album and best edited album from all points of view.
What is your favorite track of the album and why?
'Ipnosi', 'L'Angelo Sofferente' and 'Nightmare'. These songs have different sounds and each one of them represents a part of our way to compose.
One thing that definitely has to be asked after seeing the album title: how many parts will 'Il Segreto del Demone' be having?
The concept envisages the creation of another album that will complete the story of Mattia M.
You say to be specialized in "the creation of soundtracks for short horror movies". What are your favorite directors and horror movies, and for what movie would you love to have written the soundtrack for?
We also composed songs for short horror movies. Our collaboration with director Davide Melini for a short horror movie, Spanish production, entitled 'The Puzzle', was the most interesting so far. Davide Melini has worked as assistant director of 'La Terza Madre' of Dario Argento. Our favorites directors are Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci and Mario Bava. We like horror made in Italy.
What can we expect of Visioni Gotiche in the near future?
We hope to continue to walk this path and to achieve the best album ever, and that may be interesting for the people who love our sound.
The interview ends here, thanks a lot for your time. As always on our zine, the final words are reserved for the band.
Also thanks to you! We appreciate the work of your webzine that dedicates a space to bands unknown like us.
