Could you please introduce your band to the readers who don't know it yet?
We’re a bunch of fellow musicians and friends who decided to play music and drink beer together, and luckily for us, found themselves very keen on each other! Jokes aside, we’re serious guys with serious goals. We know that we’ve had and we’ll have to work really hard, and we’re prepared for this. We’re hoping we’ll got what we’ve expected!

How did things get started - and why pick 'Omega Flare' as a band name?
It all began from Daniele, Alessandro and Federico, who have played together for several years. When Daniele and Andrea found that they shared the same goals, lucky for us the band finally got their line-up done, with all the elements it needed, plus a very valid and experienced front man. Omega Flare was picked by Daniele under the influence of Andrea, after many different tries.

What are your main influences?
Swedish Metal for sure: In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity and Opeth in the main line. Other influences range from psychedelic bands such as Pink Floyd or Tool, to progressive rock and metal acts like Porcupine Tree and Pain Of Salvation, without forgetting classic heavy metal basis, taken from Judas Priest most of all.

How would you describe your music?
We hope that our goal to find a genre which is not easily definable has been achieved! Nevertheless, we may tag it unto Progressive/Industrial Electro/Death Metal.

The 'A Clockwarp Machinery' EP got a good review on our website - but what do you think of the release yourself?
I think we knew – deep in our hearts – that this first release could say a lot of what kind of musical sensibility we feel as a band. This resulted in inspired material blended with our true passion for music as musicians, as well as pure listeners. So, since the early days in studio, we got to know what Omega Flare potential would be. We are definitely very proud of our work, and we look forward to release new material in which we do want to put even more passion than before.

A practical question - why 'A Clockwarp Machinery' for a name? It has obvious references to the 'A Clockwork Orange' works, what are your opinions of this book/film?
The name was a neologism coming from Daniele’s deep interest in modern English language and relativity physics theories. It combines the terms “clockwork” and “time warp”. The reference to Kubrik’s movie is praise on its very critical view of modern society and culture. We have appreciated its criticism towards a progressive, let’s say, mechanisation of the ego.

What is in your opinion the best track on the EP release and why?
As musicians, to us is definitely Deviant Addiction, which is technically more elaborated – and wearing! – than the others. As listeners, we have one different favourite each: that depends on personal taste!

What is the message you try to spread lyrically?
The sentence that best describe our lyrics, we think it would be “a flood of emotions”. Each track has a different content: loneliness and pride, passion and desire, rage and anger, and a sense of fear combined with wonder for the death.

What are your views on the alternative music scene in Italy?
There are many good bands flooded by loads of sold off pop artists, who take the biggest slice of the market. Sadly enough for us, the aforementioned Italian market is too much interested in audience-friendly music and doesn’t grant enough room for alternative acts: in particular, it has never been really keen on metal bands.

What can we expect of Omega Flare in the near future? And what are the final goals to achieve?
At the moment we’re furiously writing new material, because we had to stop rehearsing new songs in order to focus on the 6 recorded tracks and we found ourselves with an enormous amount of riffs and ideas. We hope to release a full CD as soon as possible, but in the meanwhile the main goal is to gig everywhere we can, as much as we can, to promote our EP, websites and merchandise.

The interview ends here, thanks for your time. If you have some final words to add, you can do it here.
We want to thank you, Gerardo, for this special opportunity and your kindness, and also all the people that, in one way or another, have helped us to go further in our projects. We love you all – especially the girls ;) What to say… the more you’ll like our music, the best for us! We want to kick some serious ass! :)
