For those who have been living in a cottage in the middle of the Andes mountains without any internet or CD player, could you give us a brief introduction of Omega Lithium?
We are Omega Lithium, industrial/goth band from the small and sunny town of Umag in Croatia. We have just released our debut record “Dreams In Formaline” for Drakkar Entertainment.
What are your main influences, and how would you describe your music?
There are a lot of bands we respect and look up to, from In Flames, Pantera, Rammstein and Type O Negative, to Depeche Mode and Muse. You can find great music in all genres. You could say that it’s industrial gothic metal/rock, but you can’t actually describe, least define the sound. The most accurate explanation would be “aggressive guitars with electronic and synthetic background, wrapped in gothic atmosphere.”
Your debut album 'Dreams In Formaline' has been recieved very well by written press worldwide, but what do you think of the release yourself?
You can't be truely objective when speaking of your creation. We like every single song, because they represent us, and memories we have regarding this band. It's like a child, we fear for it, we ask ourself will we be good enough parents, and we hope one day we'll be even more proud of it.
What is in your opinion the best track on the release and why?
We personally think it's „Stigmata“ for which we did the video. We believe it has a good theme, catchy melody, and great potential to be a hit.
What is in your opinion the main difference between 'Dreams In Formaline' and the 'Andromeda' EP?
The main differences are in the samples and background beats. They were a little bit changed, to make more compact sound.
One thing that immidiately caught my attention were the vocal lines, the new vocalist Mya is amazing if you ask me. Why did you change vocalists, and how did you find Mya?
We met Mya who had a great voice, so we asked her to join us. She agreed, we saw that she is a great singer, and we decided to continue with her.
For the production you've picked Dope Stars Inc.'s Victor Love. Why did you decide to let him do the production?
Victor is a great guy, and we heard stuff he did before, so we decided to contact him and try to arrange something. He liked the music and we began the recording. It was a great expirience, and with each passing day, we were more and more happy with the choice.
The German label Drakkar Entertainment was willing to release the album. How did you get in contact with them? What do you expect of this collaboration?
We contacted various labels, and agreed to try contacting them too. They received the promo package, and contacted us back with the informations regarding the possible cooperation. We met the label manager, and decided for collaboration. We are happy to work with them, since they share our vision and are very helpful and professional. We expect they'll help us with all the matters regarding the music bussines.
As well you released a very professional looking videoclip for the track 'Stigmata'. Can you give us some information about this video? Why did you pick 'Stigmata' to record a video for?
The video was recorded by „iCode“ team from Belgrade, in collaboration with Rock the Nation in Serbia. The guys are very talented and helpful, and we had a great time with them. As you can see, the results are extraordinary. We chose it because we believe it's a best material for the video, and it completes the story given in the video.
You're going to tour Germany with Subway To Sally in December 2009. What do you expect of this tour? Why should people check out Omega Lithium live on stage?
We expect we'll have great time with the german audience. Germany is a big territory and there are a lot of subcultures listening to this kind of music, and we are very excited we'll play there.
What else can we expect of Omega Lithium in the following months of 2009? And what will 2010 bring us from out of the Omega Lithium camp?
For now, we are focused on the current release of the album, and we're preparing for the tour. In 2010 we'll be doing some great gigs, including the Wave Gotic Treffen in Leipzig. And we are working on a new material of course.
Thanks a lot for your time answering our questions. As always on this webzine, the final words are reserved for the band.
Thanks to you and all the readers, keep supporting the scene, and hope we'll see you on some gig soon!
