For the people who aren't familiar with Prickrott, could you give us a brief introduction of your band?
Prickrott is a modern statement of musical hate and chaos. Every disgust for human life, every view on this slave-society is used to create our musical driveforce.

How did things get started?
Somewhere in 2005 me and Ijin began discussing musical projects because of our simular interest in music. I (Morkulv) was doing lead-guitar in another band called Inner Scenes at that time and when the news came that the bandmembers wanted to head in a different musical direction I left. At that point Prickrott became my full-time project.

How would you describe your music, and what are your main influences?
Morkulv: A glorious battlefield filled with industrial warmachinery, and soldiers blinded by hate. Musically speaking, our influences come from very different genres. We were never raised with bands like Iron Maiden. Instead we grew up with industrial hardcore and terror, which in turn sparked our interest in other extreme music like black metal. Especially old Mayhem like Mysteriis Dom Sathanas and Wolf's Lair Abyss are what I think to be among the best examples of hatefull extreme music.
Ijin: Our music as I`d like to describe it is pure hate and darkness in audioformat.

How do you usually create your songs?
Usually a song of us is created from a riff, that is slowly being worked out as a whole song. Other times, a song evolves from pure artistic experimentation.

The new album, 'Total Fucking Meltdown', got a good review on our webzine, but what do you think of the release yourself?
This release is very important to us, since it has a significant sound-change. We wanted Total Fucking Meltdown to sound more metal, but still with the industrial edge and brutality of Prickrott, and I personally think that turned out very good.

What is, in your opinion, the best track on the release and why?
Morkulv: The Reign of the Technodemon. This track is my favorite of the album because it contains a lot of small experiments that blended together really well without getting too drifted away from the song.
Ijin: Well it`s hard to choose between a couple, but I like Mindfolter the most, since it is just so catchy and the spooky riff just finnishes the song.

What are, in your opinion, the main differences / improvements when you compare 'Total Fucking Meltdown' with the 'Hate United' EP that was released last year?
The guitarriffs are now a lot more audible, the rythm's are a lot better and more varied, and there is overall more experimentation involved. The songs are also worked out a lot better I think. There is overall more time spent on the songs.

'Total Fucking Meltdown' includes as well a cover song for Asmodeus' 'Summon The Horde'. That statment in itself poses two questions - why a cover song, and why this track and this band?
We have never done a cover-song before, and we thought it would be a interesting bonus to our CD. We chose 'Summon the Horde' because it is a very brutal and violent song by a very talented band, plus it fitted very well with the rest of the songs on the CD.

What are your views on the music scene in The Netherlands?
Its expanding quickly. Metal bands over here more often include industrial-elements so its getting harder to really stand out. Industrial hardcore is still very popular as well. I talked with my nephew Danny Masseling (aka Angerfist) once about working together on a few songs. He told me he liked the idea, but I guess he got too busy with his own music.

What are next to music your other passions in life?
Morkulv: I like to keep myself busy with movies, especially old horrormovies. I also listen to a wide arrangement of music and I casually help other people out with recording things like radiojingles, scripts, and music.
Ijin: My passions are for one my boyfriend Markus. I do a lot of truth searching, I like talking to people and I help out with the audiowork aswell. I also spend a lot of time researching energy and the occult.

What can we expect of Prickrott within the near future?
We are still working on doing our first live-assault with Ronny Meinders on drums, and we also already have new ideas and concepts for our next album which we intend to be our first full-length CD. We are still looking for a label to release it on.

The end of the interview lays here. Got any final words?
Ijin: Never feel ashamed of who you are, no one will accept you when different, only true friends. Have a free will of fire turning all to ash, powered with a resolve that will cut through mountains of lies wich are in your way of achieving truth, for religion and society shall give you none.
Morkulv: Thanks for the interview and review! Keep it up with the zine, and you will definately hear from us again!
