First of all could you please introduce Psyber to the readers of this webzine?
Psyber is the substance of tragedy, love, sexyness and cyberpunk. Consuming 80s wave, thus having the pure feeling of a musical Videodrome, as well as a neuromancing self-destructive pattern of Johnny Mnemonic. A never-ending journey through a self-rendered retro cyberpunk world.

How did things get started? And why did you name this band 'Psyber'?
Things got started when me(SynthK) and Syo, a long time friend, got in my home studio after many months of individual work. We both do drum machines, synthesizers and everything from composing to producing. I was experimenting all sorts of electronic music from combining metal with electro and drum'n'bass and Syo was fixed on industrial and drum'n'bass. The target was an industrial metal band, back then thinking we would only want to have a place for ourselves in this genre of music. After a few weeks of working, some demos came up and it was the time for us to choose a theme for the lyrics and a name for the band. The theme we chose was cyberpunk and the reason we named the band 'Psyber' was to reflect the theme itself and the sound as we were aiming for a cross between Celldweller and Front Line Assembly, taking drum'n'bass beats mixing them with atmospherical parts. This was the 'Static' EP era.

Musically you went from drum'n'bass metal to a mix of breakbeat and (new) wave. What happened to the metal edge in the music?
The metal edge of our music faded in time as we would only work with machines and synths and no gutiars whatsoever, the sound of our emulated guitars was weak. This is the main reason for which we abandoned the metal edge, but we still wanted to sound aggressive and so the number of sequencers we use has increased and the songs are more complex this way.

What are your main influences - and how would you describe your music?
Our main musical influences are Sybreed, Front Line Assembly, Dope Stars Inc., Killing Joke, MXD, Depeche Mode, Pendulum, Ashbury Heights, and most of the 80s new wave, dark wave and synthpop. However, we also take influences from well-known writers, such as William Gibson, Phillip K. Dick, ect. Our music could be described as a mix between drum'n'bass and new wave with cold gentle synths. When writing instrumental songs we mainly focus on making them sound as diverse as possible, so that when one listens to them not to get bored.

When we check the biography on your MySpace page we see some story about the debut EP named "Static". I haven't heard anything of this release, what happened to it? Was it released after all?
'Static' EP was our first studio material, consisting of 2 tracks, an intro called 'D-Cypher' which was atmospheric with industrial drumming, bitcrushed sampling and 'Static Shock', a drum'n'bass metal track which featured vocalist Paul Opris of the Romanian alternative metal band, Godmode. The release was done online, and we will probably put the songs for free download.

The currently latest release, "New Wave Noir", got a good review on our page. What are your views on the EP? How satisfied are you with the result?
We're both proud of our release but it is normal to think at this moment that the next release will be even better. We have also put hard work in creating it and even more work until we got fully satisfied with the result.

What is in your opinion the best track on the "New Wave Noir" release and why?
In my opinion the best track is 'Heartbreak System' because it reflects a lot of feelings through the gentle synths that have been used, it expresses love and tragedy , but on the other hand for me the EP stands as a 'whole' when it comes to the best track.

You originally come from Romania. How is the industrial (or drum'n'bass) scene over there?
In Romania there is no industrial scene nor a drum'n'bass one and certainly no place for a band like Psyber to say this in an ecstatic way.

What are next to music your other passions in life?
SynthK: Next to music there is no space for other real passions but besides achieving perfection in this domain, there is photography, there are video games, there is reading, and there is philosophy.

What can we expect of Psyber in the near future? What are the final goals to achieve with Psyber?
We are working hard on our debut album, and to spoil a few more things here and there, the name of the album is 'SYNDICATE', and will feature guitars, vocals, modified versions of the tracks from our latest release, 'New Wave Noir', and will also include remixes. We also thought it would be interesting to experiment a bit with darkstep and coldwave... It will be a concept album in our opinion even though it sounds prematurely at this moment so to say. Our final goal, of course, is to achieve perfection in what we call, drum'n'bass-wave.

The interview ends here, thanks for your time. If you have some final words to add, you can do it here.
It was an honor to do the interview. Thank you very much for the support from your magazine and to everyone who supports us.
