Could you provide us some basic info about your band?
Our band name is DRONES, the band members are originally from México but living in Minneapolis (Minnesota) US. The band exists of "Flako" on voice, keys, drum programming & sea shell, "Fer" on all guitars and backing vocals and "Moyo" played bass with the band from 2003-2007. Drones was born in 2003, but the band member knew eachother for 10 years already.

Why did you exactly pick this track to appear on the compilation?
we've always been strangers in strange lands... but this time we talk your language... but not forget our own...

How important is and has the internet been for your band?
Very important, we actually got gigs through the internet... we met fans, bands, promoters, producers, music distribution, etc. It works pretty good for us...

What are the views upon the local music industry in your native country?
In México, back in the day, it was a really pain in the ass to even get instruments... but now its different, bands get organized, play shows, do tours, etc. - it keeps growing, and with technology getting available, independent producing is on the rise. The Do It Yourself-culture is spreading like powder... there's much to do as an "independent industry", there are certain "big cities" were the bands concentrate mostly: Mexico city, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and the the rest... Hermosillo is a really cool place in the middle of the desert of Sonora, the state, for bands from sonora check: rocksonora.com.

And what about the rest of the world?
We can talk from our own experience: in the US is really easy to get the stuff you need to produce, by stuff we mean instruments, P.A. recording equipment etc. The difficult part is to stay focused on what you want to do, lots of distractions. The local scene in Minneapolis is really diverse, every day you can find different live music in every bar, venue etc., there's about everything for everybody. It should be called "the third coast"... independent industry grows every day, around the world, we want to believe.

How do you see the role of the record labels in the music industry in about 10 years?
Record labels... it's hard to know... will they survive at all? The great big industries will suffer big loses for sure... but human creativity always seems to find a way to re-organize the next thing... independent and virtual distribution will be very important for musicians and bands in the next 10 years, not for nothing iTunes grew as hell... record labels will have to be more inclusive and distribution will have to be more "independent" if they want to be a growing business. We guess...

What are your opinions on the Industrialized Metal Webzine and Death To Music Productions?
Even though Drones are not compromised with any music genre, we are very pleased that alternative and independent media exist far away from were we are. Even English is not our mother tongue, they still pay attention to us, that's fucking cool! All the respect for the independent movement, because we know what it means to be independent - hail to you brothers!

Do you have some final words to add?
Salud cabrones!!! Fuck the borders too!!!
