Could you provide us some basic info about your band?
We are [P.U.T] from France and Belgium. The band started
at the end of 1998, when I (Lionel) picked up the bass
and started to do some screams and my brother Loïc took
care of the guitars and rythms. Alex replaced him in
2003 and Nico (my second brother) was hired to play
second guitar since januany. We have played many gigs
and released 3 albums, 5 maxis and 1 live album (and we
appeared on many compilations and collaborations). We
try to make intense dark emotional noise.
Why did you exactly pick this track to appear on the
compilation?
To be honest, I didn't have a different track
considering that I was in full removal. But this track
still represents us pretty well: sonic mental
destruction!
How important is and has the internet been for your
band?
We have a website since many years, it's a good way to
give a good vision of the band (design, history,
discography...). I like to visit band websites, but it's
hard and takes a long time to make a website... so since
a few months we have opened a MySpace account. It's
different, but it's cool to promote the band, find
places to play, book tours and make contacts and
friendships.
What are the views upon the local music industry in
your native country?
I really think that the scene has taken a snap since
people download more. I don´t condamn it all, because I
think it´s more an economical problem (the discs are
expensive, and the majors destroy the music by
presenting it as a simple product). There are some very
good labels in France, which try to survive the best
they can. It's difficulting for them to have a good
distribution in records stores, just few bands tour and
sell a lot. Over here there are many, many good bands
with very good and different sounds in many styles. My
music culture has many French bands on it. But it's
getting harder to play, many places must close down,
others open. You must be really motivated to continue...
And what about the rest of the world?
I don't know honestly, but i think that it's the same
thing... i hope not though!
How do you see the role of the record labels in the
music industry in about 10 years?
It's like the preceding question. I think it's harder
for a label than 10 years ago, to promote their bands
correctly. Internet is the new media for them. But i'm
not a pessimist because I think that passion is still
here.
What are your opinions on the Industrialized Metal
Webzine?
I like the Industrialized Metal Webzine, because I don't
know how you do it, but it's excellent for finding new
information, bands and contacts, and everything is made
with passion like yours. You are the new media for
reviews, scene reports, links... and you have some good
initiatives like this compilation! Thanks to you!
Do you have some final words to add?
BE CURIOUS – and make sure to check out our new 7",
which will be avaibale on Noise Records in a fews days!
