When I was searching for information of Glaukom Synod on
their MySpace page for the review of their preverious
demo ‘Uczulony’, I found a new blog post. “New EP
released on Amok Recordings!” (or something like that)
was the given title, and it was free for downloading
too. Since I am not a lazy ass, I downloaded the whole
release. And just when I was about to start making a
review of it and I was about to check the Amok
Recordings website for maybe some extra info, it turned
out that the release had been deleted already! Only
after a few days! Gabriel of Glaukom Synod couldn’t give
me a clear explanation about this as well (because he
knows as much as I do), but we both agreed that this
weird situation will not stop me for reviewing it!
First thing to mention, not all the tracks on this
release are preveriously unreleased. ‘Tyranny in Red’
can be found on the first demo ‘Obsessism XXIII’ and
‘Intense Underground Brainstorm (Shredded Metal Version)’
appears on the ‘Uczulony’ release. Since track 5 is
actually a remix of track 2, I think we can state that
this release contains six brand new tracks including an
intro. About the music itself: if you have read the
reviews of the preverious GKS works you won’t be
surprised anymore. Industrial noises are bashed through
your eartrumpet without any problems, and surprising
extravagant intermezzo’s are present here again.
Although, there are some major differences with the
preverious release. First of all, this one is clearly
more metal influenced than before and this is hearable
in the structure of every song. The vocals are more and
more black metal based as well, which almost makes
Glaukom Synod an industrial black metal band! Secondly,
the sound is more clear than before, which gives us the
opportunity to discover more and more little things
behind the noise itself. And do I like this? Damn sure!
