Artist: XE-NONE
Album: Angels (Single)
Year: 2007

Xe-NONE from Russia was one of the very first featured bands on Industrialized Metal. They were also one of the first bands that were reviewed, and they were the very first band who got interviewed on the page too. I’ve always followed this band with a closer eye since then, because their ‘blood rave cyber metal’ has always sound like Heaven in my ears. Nowadays, they present us a brand new single called ‘Angels’. It consists out of three tracks, of which two have a quite recogniseable title already (preverious releases? Yes.).

‘Angels’ is the first track of this three-track single. It opens with the wellknown Eurodance attitute (great synthlines!) and turns into a brutal dance metal track when the guitars are added. The brutal male screams and gentle female vocals are added on recogniseable parts, and the powerful drumparts give this track both a brutal metal and a danceable attitude. Both ‘Digital Fucker AD’ and ‘Slave On_Line’ are new versions of the tracks that originally appeared on the very first EP. ‘Digital Fucker AD’ has had quite some transformation. In fact, it’s hard to recognise the original track (besides the vocal lines)! Its a midtempo danceable track with more metal than Eurodance influences, with various vocal styles (melodic, brutal, powerful). The transformation clearly turned it into a better track. ‘Slave On_Line’ sounds more cyberish than the original track. This always was a track of which I hoped to hear with a better production, and my prayings were heard. This track also had some transformation but less extreme than the preverious. The whole track is extremely powerful, and shows the true talents of this band with ease.

Compared to the latest two releases, this single EP is blessed with a better production. More and more little details in the sampling are hearable, and the songs sound more harmonized. Fans of this Russian band will be forced into more sleepless nights after this single. Because it sucks? No, because they’ll be forced to keep on dancing night after night after night!
