Artist: PLAN E
Album: Best Kept Secret
Year: 2004
When My Kingdom Music’s label chief Francesco told me
that Finnish band Plan E might fit on my homepage well,
I decided to do some research. I found out that this
band has got some connections with Impaled Nazarene (ex-members
and stuff), so I didn’t expect this band to fit on
IndustrializedMetal.tk that well. Although, when I
listened to the music, I discovered some cold,
industrial doom metal. And, although I am not a big doom
metal fan, I was impressed. Next step: an album review.
Their currently latest release is called Best Kept
Secret. The concept for this record is easy: slow, cold,
pretty technical doom metal with a little industrial.
With vocals which remind me to Malaise, they have
created an atmospheric album. Normally, I am not a big
fan of this kind of music, but Plan E has caught me in
it’s gentle storm. All tracks are build with the same
concept, although all tracks are different from each
other. Best track on this record has to be the first
track if you ask me (Fool). This track has the
atmosphere, and the vocals are used on its best. There
is one thing I don’t really get, and that is a thing
written on the back of the cd. It says: “shuffle play
recommended.” I have no idea what is meant with this,
but it is all about the music, and the music is
excellent. Some final words? If you like doom and
industrial, Plan E is your band. And if you don’t like
industrial doom, try this out and let them surprise you
as well!
