Artist: FUCKTORY-X
Album: Blood On Rust
Year: 2007
When Fucktory-X released their “Life Feeds On Blood” EP
in 2005, I’d expected another industrial metal band from
Italy that was highly influenced by Dope Stars Inc. What
I found did really positively surprise me: this band was
mixing death metal with industrial and ambient parts in
a really original way. It was a pity for me that it was
just a six track EP and not a full lenght, but Fucktory-X
did not took a winter sleep and worked on the full
lenght, which has came out now. “Blood On Rust” has ten
new tracks to be discovered.
First of all, all the tracks are decently build and I
don’t mind listening to them at all, but this band
decided to reduce the industrial parts to an absolute
minimum. This is of course a pity, because 1- on this
webzine we review industrialized metal music and 2- the
own characteristic style of this band is getting lost
like this. Anyway, back to the album itself. It contains
ten tracks of old school death metal, with quite a lot
doom metal influences hearable. ‘Monsters of Light’ for
example has a doom/death attitude, but after two and a
half minutes, when the blastbeats are added, there’s
some old school death metal stuff presented to us. On
‘Mallevs Maleficarvm’ this band manages to mix black
metal guitarwork with death metal drums and vocals,
while on ‘The Choice To Kill’ they used pretty much only
black metal influences. The production of this album is
the same as on ‘Life Feeds On Blood’, which means a
heavy sound and vocals that could be a little louder.
Since I am also a big fan of death metal, I really
appreciate this album, but I should recommend fans of
industrial metal to try out their ‘Life Feeds On Blood’
EP first.
