Artist: CHAOTICA
Album: Prison of Decay
Year: 2006

Chaotica originated in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1997 and are now based in Phoenix, Arizona. The band member are Danny Chaotic (Vocals), Gary Toth (Guitar), Ratprick (Bass), Jeff-X (Drums), their influences include bands such as Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, Nin Inch Nails, KMMFDM, and Crossbreed.

The first track, “Prison of Decay”, begins upbeat with fast beat drum lines, the vocals have a futuristic pop sound to it. The guitars break the sound and fast rhythmic vocals chime in. Second track, “When She Falls”, the beat is very industrial pop in sound, the vocals and beats are a bit off but blend more when the guitar adds into it. Third track, “Church of Men”, has a more metallic- futuristic pop tone. The vocals gruffed up helps complete the track. Next track, “Unstable”, the drums and guitars work together to begin this track before the fury of vocals shreds its way into the track the guitar riffs follow with the vocals. Fifth track, “Something Wicked”, fast vicious guitar and drum lines lays the platform for the growlish vocals that begin with intensity. This track has stays true to its opening with keeping the theme throughout with riffs that intensify the insanity. Next, “I Despise”, a very mix of sounds it jumps from an old industrial sound with a modern top 40 sound. The chorus is the faster lyrical tempo. Next track,” House of Red Tape”, an extreme fast tempo pop song is what this song brings to my mind with dance like sound. Next track, “Follow Me Down”, futuristic pop opening that drags on through out the entire track. Ninth track, “Mr. Vanity”, guitars begin this track before being added by drums and vocals and growls. The vocals keep in harmony with the beat of the song. Tenth track, “Pull You Down”, a fun mix of sounds with vocals that fit in perfectly in tune. Next track, “Alone in the Crowd”, another up tempo track with intense drum lines with vocals that are loud and add intensity to it. The guitars mellow the track down a bit. Last track, “Katie’s Pet Bird”, a futuristic punk song, with lyrics that a bit macabre. Well composed and intense.

This album seemed a bit too alike from track to track. I feel the band has the potential to do more impressive things in the future, but to me this album was a bit boring.
