Artist: EWIGKEIT
Album: Conspiritus
Year: 2005
In an interview I did with James of Ewigkeit somewhere
in June, he promised me an awesome new album. According
to him, we could expect an album about "realisation of a
huge global conspiracy that's aim is to control mankind
through brainwashing, destruction of knowledge, control
through the media and enslavement through debt." Curious?
Yes, me too. But now it is two months later, and the
promised album has arrived. Conspiritus was the given
name.
After the intro called "Hypothesis", the album kicks off
with "It's Not Reality". This song shows us the new
Ewigkeit which is more powerful and more industrialized.
Orchestral synths and beautiful clean vocals make this
song a beautiful though powerful one. Excellent song!
Although the tracklist on the album says that "The
Nightmare Institution" follows, it is "Square Sunrise"
that comes up. I think the label misprinted the
tracklist on the album, because those two songs are
switched. Anyway, about the song? Excellent sampling and
synths give this song a certain dark atmosphere, which
are beautifully accompanied by the vocals. Later on, the
song gets powerful as well. I could listen to this song
for hours, but it only is five minutes long. Well, time
for "The Nightmare Institution" then. It starts a way
similar to "Powerplant" (of the preverious record) with
a cool guitar solo, but when the rest of the song
follows it has reached an own identity. This song is
more cyber than we are used from Ewigkeit, although you
still can hear perfectly that this is an Ewigkeit song.
Maybe the best sampling and guitarwork of the album!
"Far Away From Heaven" is the next track. This track
sounds weird in the beginning, but after a while this
has changed into beauty. Melodic black metal likely keys
are mixed with the clean vocals in an exceptional way.
You hardly mention the simple basslines and guitar riffs
anymore. "Transcend The Senses" starts with an
orchestral intro, but the rest of the song sounds like a
long speech. Kinda weird, but I like it somehow.
Specially because the music is one of pure beauty. "The
Thought Police" sounds way more agressive than the
preverious two songs. The guitar and drum work remind me
to Dagoba, but the chorus looks like Pain. Good,
powerful song with an awesome intermezzo! Next up is
"How To Conquer The World (Live At The Bohemian Grove)",
a song which starts with a church organ and some
audience. What follows is a poppy, kinda gospel song.
Not really something I expected on this record, but I
like some eccentricity. "Theoreality" brings you back
where this album started. It has the same kinda style as
"It's Not Reality", although there is a more futuristic
ambience over here. And the solo, genius! The album ends
with the "Conspiritus" outro. Well, if you don't mind
I'll go and listen this album again. Masterpiece!
