Artist: DAGOBA
Album: Dagoba
Year: 2003
When Samael finally released their Reign of Light album,
they decided to go on tour. Dagoba was their accompany
as support act. Lots of people said: "Dagoba who?". Well,
let me tell you about my surprising experience with this
French industrial death metal band.
When you hear the words 'industrial death metal', you
thought "Oh no, another Fear Factory rip off", didn't
you? Oh well, I did. But you can call Dagoba everything,
but they are definitely not a Fear Factory. Sure, some
riffs and vocal use remind to them, but Dagoba has
created something that is called an own style. The way
of using the drums makes the music sound pretty
agressive (I hear also some new metal influences from
time to time). The album does not get boring when you
reach the end, so with the variation part there are no
problems as well. Only thing I got against this band is
the vocals. They sound like some kind of nu-metalcore
vocals, which does not really fit to the music in my
opinion. But, after a while you get used to them. Oh and
by the way: the cover art is really simple and not
special at all, but... I really like it.
