Artist: DYNABYTE
Album: Extreme Mental Piercing
Year: 2003
There is a lot of industrial activity going on in Italy.
Bands like T3chn0ph0b1a, Neon:Synthesis and No
Forgiveness have released their first works in search
for a label. One of the bands who already found a label
is DyNAbyte, a band including John of Necrodeath who are
inspired by bands like Rammstein and Fear Factory. Their
debut album is called Extreme Mental Piercing (although
they prefer to spell it this way: extreme meNtAl
pierciNg), and it was released in 2003. I locked myself
up in my room, and prepared myself for some aliens who
might come.
The first minute gives me an intro like the ones who are
normally used in movies, to announce that the aliens are
coming. I kept looking around until the first song of
this album woke me up with powerful guitars and drums,
in vein of a band like Dagoba. Then the vocals appear
(done by one of the queens of metal: Cadaveria... do I
need to explain more?), and the sound of DyNAbyte is
complete. Afterwards, I'm My Enemy follows (which
sounded different from the video by the way) which shows
a more gentle way of this band. That this is only a one-time
action is proven by the rest of the album. The way this
band combines the guitars with the drums is outstanding,
specially in 'In Another Context', which is my favourite
track of the album. And don't forget to mention the way
they modernized a Led Zeppelin song! Industrial metal
has to be powerful, DyNAbyte is. Industrial metal has to
be eccentric, DyNAbyte is. And don't forget the bonus,
we can hear Cadaveria's throat for 40 minutes again! For
fans of Fear Factory, Dagoba and Malmonde! If some
aliens have entered my room in the meantime, they woule
be blasted away. Do I still have all my organs? Yes. All
satellites are still working. No aliens who wants to
phone home. Phew!
