Artist: HAVOC UNIT / ...AND OCEANS / THE SIN:DECAY
Album: Synaesthesia - The Requiem Reveries (split)
Year: 2006
Havoc Unit comes from the Finland regions. The band formed in 2007 and its members include Sa. Myel on battery, programming, bass, FX and guitars, T.Kunz on guitars, FX and bass, Jos.F on vocals, propaganda, tapes and cutting, as well Heir.Ich on piano, keys, propaganda, programming, loops and filtering. Havoc Unit's current record label is ToyBoyz ltd. First track, “With Discipline Upon Mankind “, opens with a sound of war from the world war eras and spoken pieces with the fast beat almost grind sound music, add in screaming vocals makes this track unique and great atmosphere. Second track, “Regime Equinox”, it begins with a spoken piece, barely any background sound. It then dives into drums and keyboards the voice almost ominous sounding vocals. Third track, “Mvsn “, it begins with an almost d and b sound which carries throughout the track, no vocals in this track. This part of the album wasn’t not very impressive to me, it seemed very much the same with very little variance. Vote Havoc Unit side: 70 / 100.
…And Oceans hails from Finland as well, with many previous releases under their belt (A.M.G.O.D, Cypher and more) Its members include(d) de Monde "7Even II" guitar (1995-2001), Martex "Cauldron, Grief, Mr. Plaster" (Jani Martikkala) drums (1997-2001), Mr. Oos bass (1995-1997) ,Anti - keyboards (1997-2005), Pete guitar (2001-2005). At the time of this review, …And Oceans was disbanded already. Fourth track, “Yerushalayim rez haQuodes”, starts with an almost grind core sound hard vocals, which continue throughout hard and heavy, adding in a spoken pieces. Fifth track, “Tophet”, an eerie opening almost the sound of breathing, very haunting. The ending becomes almost like shrieking metallic noises or television static a perfect ending to close the vortex. Sixth track, “ha-Shoah” a very industrial opening reminiscent of Nin inch nails with a choir esque beating in the back blended with low vocals. …And Oceans is very much an improvement to this album, the hard grindish sound haunting and grabs hold of you. I am very impressed. Vote …And Oceans side: 90 / 100
The Sin:Decay is a freshly new three piece band, which comes from Finland as well. Some people might remember the review of their preverious release, “Rehabilitation”. Seventh track, “We Are All Slaves”, has a very melodic opening keyboards dominate this start before guitars melt into the mix. The vocals are low and almost guttural which seem to bring the guitar into a harder tone. Eighth track, “Celestial Revulsion”, blares in with a very rock edge throwing in keyboards with the vocals quieter, guitars definitely dominate this track. Keyboards add a touch of softness to this hard sound. Ninth track, “C76i8k76”, the drums start the final track off marking the beat and placing the tempo and attitude. Vocals almost electronic as they push through the drums bring in guitar with keyboards almost muted in the background. The Sin:Decay gives an impressive mix of hardcore drums, intense guitars, keyboards and amazing vocals. Vote The Sin:Decay side: 85 / 100
