Album: Follow My Wave
Year: 2007

Well, what do we got here? Another new band from France. Well, ‘new’ band...? New to me, and probably new to most of you readers out there, but a quick look into their history and discography learns us that this band isn’t new at all. Their MySpace shows us that this currently newest release is already their 9th, and according to their biography they’re already existing since late 1998! Among their influences we find Killing Joke, Godflesh and Will Haven but also the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Mix this together with their self-called description for their music (‘emotional noise for happy days’) and you know that something interesting awaits.

‘Follow My Wave’ is the title track and the opening track of this EP. It contains elements of ambient and electro rock, all brought together with a Rage Against The Machine attitude and a lot of chaos in the chorus. ‘Shade’ comes up next. It’s an instrumental track with a bouncing beat, wicked guitarwork, a protounding bassline and some slightly added electronic sampling. ‘Low Direction’ contains of ambient music and preachy/spoken-word vocal lines. It’s not a track of my kind, with it’s nearly 11 minute duration. ‘Own Destruction’ has a heavy bassline, dark electronic sampling, sick programming and distorted vocals. ‘DamDam’ is totally different again. It’s like a crust/punk track, with a little cyber sampling and a catchy chorus.

There’s also a so-called 6th track on this album, which is a nice (live) bonus video for the ‘Follow My Wave’ track. The EP turns out to be quite a weird duck in the end, with all kinds of different music included in the package. Not something you hear every day, but indeed cool stuff.
