Artist: ZORGLÜB
Album: From The Dust
Year: 2005

French band Zorglüb is crashing innocent human souls since 2000, first with some kind of EBM but with the arrival of their guitarist in 2001 it became industrial metal very quick. After some live shows with Punish Yourself, Kill The Thrill and the Belgian EBM Gods of Implant they managed to become more known in the scene very quick. They say to be influenced by Ministry, Oomph! and NIN and according to their biography their newly hired drummer have given this group an extra and new dimension.

'Burn' is the first track of this release. The first seconds sound like a 20 years old modem that fails to connect to the internet, but when the vocals and the guitars are added there finally is some order in the chaos. The weird sampling from the beginning comes back here and there, and even their EBM roots are clearly hearable with some intermezzo's. This song has many other different elements: too many to name them all but I think it is fair to say that it has been melted into a powerful package. 'Shoot The Clown' is a re-recorded version of the title track of their debut demo about five years ago. Since I am not known with that version, I just say what I am hearing. Robotic sounding music (think Rammstein meets T3chn0ph0b1a) with an EBM beat on the background. Easy listening stuff, although the half clean half grunt vocals affect a little weird on the music. 'To Dust' has a nice guitar solo in the beginning, but it is a pity that the raw sound quality of the demo kinda raped the sound of it. The rest of the song can be well described as 'The Frozen Autumn with guitars': an easy listening beat and synths with atmospheric vocals and a catchy chorus. Plus the guitar, of course. The last song of this 4 track release is a live version of 'Weak Again'. The sound quality is way better than the raw studio tracks, which illustrates their talents a little better. This is a less industrial more atmospheric song, in vein of the melodic black metal bands we all know but with a slower tempo. Yes indeed people, weird band, weird package, weird cd. But, it is good shit for sure! Fans of bands like Golem 101, Ministry and Rammstein will really appreciate this one!
