2008 had been quite a quiet year so far when it comes to noisy releases by the French one man project Glaukom Synod. After having recieved several releases a year in 2006 and 2007, 2008 didn't bring us any Glaukom Synod release. Well, until now. 'Macabre Remixes' is a seven track release, which probably doesn't need much more explanation after seeing the tracklist and the album title.
Despite this all, the release turned out to be more variative than I expected before. Sure, it has the extremely blasting worse-than-speedcore noises all over the release again (with special mentioning for the first 'Gangrene Control' mix), but he didn't overdo it. 'Subterranean Nuttgrabber' for example contains some pretty accessable electronic parts, as well 'S.I.I.7.N.O.D - High On Hydrochloric Supersititions' turns out to be quite midtempo. As well the Abba remix needs to have a special mentioning. It contains mostly parts from the original track, that are heavy distorted now and then while added some crazy Glaukom Synod style electro stuff and even a few grunting vocal lines.
'Macabre Remixes' will be a well welcomed release for the people who liked Glaukom Synod's preverious stuff, and a surprisingly new release to discover for any other fucked up soul. A nearly 19 minutes tornado, tropical storm and tsunami in one.
