Artist: PRICKROTT
Album: Hate United
Year: 2008

"Prickrott is a 2-man extreme music-project that started out somewhere at the end of 2005/begin 2006, playing wich could best be described as a fusion of a lot of extreme genre's such as black metal, death metal, grindcore, industrial and even speedcore fueled with soulripping guitarriffs and destructive vomiting vocals.." Just a quote from their MySpace page, that should cover it all. 'Hate United' is their second release, after the release of 'Fuck Your God', and turns out to be a four-track EP.

The EP kicks off with an ominous sounding intro, to be followed by 'Existence of Ignorance'. It opens with melancholic musical works, to be followed by some very distorted stuff. The song can be described as industrial black metal, and mixes old school parts with experimental noise and industrial. 'Digital Satan' comes up next. Although it might sound like a Blacklodge songtitle - the track turns out to be otherwise. To describe the track within one word: noise. To describe it in a few more: noise, noise, black metal and noise. This track could be used as a submission for the most distorted track in the universe, there is no remorse for any melody (besides the vocal lines maybe). A track that truely sounds like a truck filled with glass, crashed into a wall with 200 miles per hour! 'Don't Go Into The Woods Alone' brings us (a little) more melody and experimental musical works. It's an all instrumental track that has influences from hardstyle, speedcore and maybe even some terror, which hasn't got much to do with metal indeed.

Prickrott offers you stuff you don't hear every day, and that you probably don't want to hear every day either. After hearing this EP, you probably got two chances. One - you are glad that it only contains four tracks or two - you think it's a pity that it only contains four tracks. Although I am not always a big fan of weird noises like these, I consider myself part of the second group. If you need to lose some agression, or if you want to scare the neighbours away - put this EP in your CD player, press the 'repeat' button and set the volume to the max!
