Artist: THE BOMBS OF ENDURING FREEDOM
Album: Kalashnikovs And Car Bombs
Year: 2008

Although The Bombs of Enduring Freedom only exists for a limited amount of years, there is nothing unexperienced on this project. After bombing the underground for years with project such as Ewigkeit and Blacksmoke, this is the current main project of James Fogarty. After the smashing self-titled debut release (that was filled with kickass music and strong lyrics), James started to include some more drum'n'bass influences to the music, which is clearly hearable on the new six-track EP 'Kalashnikovs And Car Bombs'.

After the intro named 'Insurgents In Dub', the EP kicks off with 'Home Grown Terror'. It's an uptempo, driven track with excellent powerful riffing and heavy drum'n'bass programming. The dark keylines/sampling and the recogniseable vocal lines give the song a more accessable touch, which is a bit contradictive to the no-nonsense political lyrics. 'Baghdad' follows (a song that was already featured on the F**k Em All - Volume 2 compilation). It's a powerful track with uptempo drum'n'bass programming and wellfitting riffing. The (mostly female) vocals come from samples most probably, and are mixed in pretty well. 'Protect And Survive' is a more quiet and easy listening track, also included sampled vocal works. Again this is a song with a very strong political message ("you cannot win a nuclear war!"), and includes influences from drum'n'bass to industrial/electro metal. 'Two State Revolution' comes up next. It's maybe the most heavy track on the release, including guest hardcore vocals by Wil from Norm Rejection. It contains bashing programming works and strong and recogniseable riffing that fit extremely well with the powerful vocal lines and the outspoken lyrical message. 'Free For How Long' is already the final track on the release. It's again strongly drum'n'bass influenced, with wellfitting sampling works and thrashy riffing. Again this song includes sampled vocal lines, explaining the real problem of the war on terror - America. Overall the track is pretty accessable, unless you're a patriotic yankee of course.

Workaholic James Fogarty again delivered an essential release for any industrial metal fan. The well integrated drum'n'bass influences match the industrial metal and the political messages in an excellent way, and each track shows it's own experimental values without any of the tracks appears like a filler. Get this limited edition EP via Death To Music Productions right away, and if you haven't heard the debut album yet; it's coming soon on the very same Death To Music page for unlimited free download.
