Artist: LEECH WOMAN
Album: Three3Zero
Year: 2001

The band hails from the UK with three band members; Alex B (bass, vocals, and programming), Rob (guitars and programming) and Nathan (guitars and programming). The band describes their current fashion as “the most extreme band in the UK”, their record label is Quai Loh/ Wasp Factory/ invisible/ A T.

The first track, “Tool”, opens with a spoken clip before beginning with trashing sounds almost like being in a metal factory. The vocals are screaming, matching well with the harsh sounds of metal on metal, a very intense track. Next track, “Solid State”, mutter clips with lower grinding guitars and sounds of clanking chains begin the track with bass and vocals following. Screams and slight tempo changes are perfectly placed. Third track, “Cardinal”, low gutter sounds followed by metal clanks and an eerie almost breathing sound as guitars slow make their way into the fray vocals silently in the background. Fourth track, “Breaker”, silent spoken clips followed by heavy bass beats and low growling guitar open this track. Screeching vocals make their way into this ominous sounding music. Next track, “Fedrill”, the drum beats are loudly present in this track with guitars and vocals playing second chair. Growling through out as beats quickens in this well composed track. Next up “Knuckle Hate”, slowly starting with clinks and clanks that slowly become louder as guitar and vocals grind their way in. Seventh track, “Bound and Blind”, cymbals and guitars assist the spoken clips before louder drums and screams jump in to make a complete sound. Eighth track “Section13”, this track opens with eerie sounds before a low drum and cymbal with shrilling guitars. Vocals come in played along with more intense shrills from the guitar. Next track, “Fedrill- Second Generation”, drums proudly begin this track off, the beat very steady and fun. Followed up by guitars that are perfectly blended in, vocals only playing in at the very end. Next up, “Kincaid-Gabriel Unseated Mix”, a very industrial tribal sound starts this track off. The beat takes a speed trip as it quickens with low barely there vocals and eerie shrill buzzes. Last track is a hidden and untitled track, is more or less noise to fill the void.

This band show real promise I was impressed with most of the tracks, though few did seem dull and redundant. I will watch for their next album and cross fingers for the talent to shine through more.

Vote: 79/ 100
