Artist: PAVILLON ROUGE
Album: Mizuage
Year: 2008

Pavillon Rouge is a French industrial black metal band, existing since late 2007. It consists of three members (including (ex-)members of Sybreed and KHK), who shared the idea to mix the black metal of Aborym and Emperor with the industrial tunes of Ministry, Nine Inch Nails and 80's new wave. 'Mizague' is the first physical proof of existence; a four track EP which has some wicked cover art.

The release opens with the title track, which turns out to be an intro, to be followed by 'Cauchemar Kashmir'. It's a midtempo industrial black metal track with faster and slower passages here and there. It has excellent riffing, dark and raw screaming vocal lines and refreshing synth lines that are generously added here and there. The wicked programming spreads like a plague all over the track, and the surprisingly cool sounding clean vocal parts fits the song very well. 'La Porte de Jade' comes up next. It is a more atmospheric one, with again very wicked programming. The vocal lines matches the riffing excellently, and some slightly added wave influences give it a little more industrial touch. Again the clean vocal parts sound surprisingly fresh. The release ends with a cover of the BlackLodge song 'T.A.O.S.'. It's a nice cover, played in the own Pavillon Rouge style with the wicked drums and excellent black metal vocals.

In the end, the Mizague EP turns out to be a more than nice introduction with Pavillon Rouge. All the tracks are more than decently constructed, and the extravagant wicked drumming sounds refreshing within the industrial black metal corners. Definitely a band to keep a closer eye on if you like stuff such as Aborym, BlackLodge and HerrSchaft.
