Artist: DOPE STARS INC.
Album: Neuromance
Year: 2005

A lot has happened with the Italian band Dope Stars Inc. since their first demo was released two years ago. The band got a different guitar player, recruited a worldwide fanbase and even managed to get signed on a major label like Trisol Music is. Yes, this has band really travelled with a time machine the last two years! And now, after months of beggings and cryings from all over the world, their debut album Neuromance is finally out.

First thing I noticed on the tracklist was that this record includes all the songs which were on the debut demo as well, but Shock To The System. But when I pressed the play button and I heard “10.000 Watts” (and little time later the other songs as well), I noticed that they re-recorded them into their new style. “10.000 Watts” has been turned into a powerful, danceable song. Insane sampling and snoaring guitars, great opener! Next up another remake: “Infection 13”. This has always been my favourite song of this band, and it hasn’t changed at all. With lyrics which sound like an alien warriors song, this song brings you an excellent mix of metal and industrial. Love the machinery samples on this song! With “Platinum Girl” finally a brand new track appears. This is a more softer song, although it starts with a very powerful riffs. Looking to the lyric, this can be called their ballad. Next up is “Make My Star”, another newie. This song is a more poppy one, but definitely a killer one. Simple basslines and rytmic samples make this an easy listening song, hard to get rid of it in your head. Awesome guitar solo! “Vyperpunk” might has the best samples of the whole record. It has an awesome guitar solo as well. Easy listening stuff! “Generation Plastic” is another ‘new-old song’. They haven’t changed that much this time, only some new spacy sampling. Awesome song as ever! “Rebel Riot” is about the future, or maybe their future. The lyric has been placed into a very powerful song, which could be a killer one on the dancefloor! “Theta Titanium” follows the tracks of “Rebel Riot”. I love the synth intermezzo, which remind me to T3chn0ph0b1a a little. With “Self Destructive Corp.” another remake of the demo song follows. Agressive lyrics but an easy listening, though powerful song. Catchy chorus on this one! “Plug 'N' Die” is also a remake. Not much has changed, they only made it more powerful and spacey. “Defcon 5” reminds me a little to “10.000 Watts”, although this song has a way more different and catchy chorus. Very powerful song again! “Trance-Formers” can be called the most powerful and agressive song on the record. Cyber sampling and a blastbeat here and there... I love it! “C-Beams”, the last song, opens with a Rammstein-likely intro, but soon it transforms (or trance-forms? Hehe) into an atmospheric and danceable outro.

The perfect album? Well, almost. In some parts I think that the vocals could be used a little more different to make this a better album. But this is the only thing I have to complain, if you want to call it complaining. What are you still doing over here? Go and get yourself a copy of this record! And better be quick, because the limited version includes a (killer) bonus cd filled with remixes of Deathstars, MortIIs and many more! And not to forget an exclusive track, and killer cover versions of HIM's "Right Here In My Arms" and London After Midnight's "Kiss"!
