Artist: NO FORGIVENESS / DIGITALIS PURPUREA / BLUE VELVET
Album: Gears of Industry (Split CD)
Year: 2007

March 31st, Turin (Italy). This evening, there was a nice gig hold for the industrial metal fans: the Turin Industrial Massacre fest. Bands who were performing were No Forgiveness, Digitalis Purpurea and Blue Velvet. And they didn’t just perform over there, because they decided to print a DIY split CD including two track of each band!

First up is No Forgiveness, participating on this split with two tracks from their Deja-Vu album: ‘Hate Gate’ and ‘Insane’. Both songs consist of strong riffs and very bashing programming works. The raw and characteristic vocal works of Holy Smoke are spread all over the tracks like a disease, which give these tracks a more sick attitude. For more information please check my Deja-Vu review elsewhere, for if you don’t feel like to; this is just pure quality! Vote No Forgiveness side: 100 / 100.
Next up comes Digitalis Purpurea. ‘Coded Feel’ is their first track on this split, and its a real killer one. A sick, slow track with very dark sampling, heavy distorted guitars and wellfitting vocals. The chorus is one of that kind that get stuck in your head quite easely. ‘Dried Up And Spotted with Black Lipstick’ is a more industrial influenced track, with a marching drumbeat and guitar riffs that bring you back to the ‘Herzeleid’ era. This track is very easy listening and decently build. Vote Digitalis Purpurea side: 90 / 100.
Final band on the three-way split is called Blue Velvet. They participate with two heavely Marilyn Manson influenced tracks. I don’t mind listening to this stuff, but it’s not as good as the preverious bands by far. ‘Don’t Fear’ does contain wicked sampling here and there, and the programming on ‘I Wanna Be Like Him’ is cool, but furthermore... well, just Marilyn Manson? Vote Blue Velvet: 50 / 100.

So, some final words? Not really necissary, its all there... a cool split with two quality bands and one less quality band. Unfortunately for No Forgiveness and Digitalis Purpurea, this will not increase the average rating of this split, but the people who read the whole review should not be mislead if you ask me. Vote: 80 / 100
