Glaukom Synod isn’t an unknown soul anymore on the
Industrial Metal Webzine for ages. This French one man
DIY project is releasing as many times as he’s sneezing,
which brings us several releases a year. “Ogre” is the
currently latest release; a 14 track demo blessed with
all kinds of weird track titles.
“Ogre” doesn’t show too many differences from the
preverious demos “Uczulony” and “Obsessism”. Elements of
noise, ambient, brutal metal and electro are blended
together with good results, although it sounds a little
bit less chaotic this time. There’s also a little more
variation added within the songs eachself. ‘Triangle
Obscene’ and ‘Gangrene Control’ for example have a major
touch of extreme metal, and could be working for people
who like stuff like S.M.E.S., Kots and Nunwhore Commando
666. ‘Totalitarian Nuclear Warlust’ shows on the other
hand the more dark electronic side of this project, with
sampled vocals and noisy elements. ‘Vulvotronic
Dominator’ and ‘Pustular Eyesocked Nervotomy’ are pure
noisecore songs (for if you have ever seen Anal
Penetration live – its about the same), while
‘Ultrablasting Zaxxonized Paroxysm’ mixes noisecore with
gore and cold electronic elements. The most surprising
track on the release must be the first track, ‘Passive
Retro’. It contains some sick electronic works, rap(?)
sampled vocal lines and a bouncing beat that strongly
winks to the early synth pop music. In the end, the
track evolves in a noisey outro that contains all kinds
of different ambient and electronic sounds.
The people who liked the preverious stuff of Glaukom
Synod will probably dig this new release as well. The
other people, including the ones who have never heard of
this project before, should try it out as well. Compared
with the preverious releases, this one is the more
accessable one. Furthermore, in my opinion, “Ogre” is
Glaukom Synod’s best demo so far as well.
