Artist: LIMBOGOTT
Album: Pharmaboy
Year: 2006

Although Limbogott is still a quite young band, their history is already quite impressive. Their debut album ‘One Minute Violence’, that was released in 2005, was thrown onto the underground scene like a powerful rocket and blew lots of heads away. Their live shows became also a very positive surprise to both crowd as wellknown bands like Blutengel and Die Krupps. Nowadays, Limbogott is back from the studio which resulted in the new release called ‘Pharmaboy’. Will this album be able to continue the succes of ‘One Minute Violence’?

Well, unfortunately I don’t know the ‘One Minute Violence’ album, but I must say that this is some real killer stuff! Eighteen tracks and almost an hour of music, and it never gets bored! Beats are flying into your ears from all sides, and the powerful guitarwork has the same effect as a drill. Since it’ll be useless to review eighteen tracks (then the review will be 10 miles long and nobody would even read it!), I’ll review only my favourite tracks. ‘Cut Throat’ sounds a little like Dagoba in the beginning, but the pure electronic works afterwards tells you otherwise. This song contains powerful and brutal guitar- and vocalwork, a catchy chorus and very wicked electronic parts. This track is very wellchosen as opening track, because it gets you in the right mood immidiately. The fifth track on the record, ‘Nerve’, is one that deserves special attention too. This track contains easy listening electronics and a bashing, powerful chorus. The variation in the vocal works is excellent, and so is the synth work that appears here and there. ‘Mason On Mason’ follows, and it didn’t hesitate to blow my head away again. Danceable beats are accompanied with powerful guitarworks and harsh vocals. A song like this will probably even sound better live on stage. ‘Annoy-O-Meter’, the eighth track, is most certainly the weirdest track on this record. The mechanized sampling sounds chaotic, while the chorus sounds desperate. After the chorus ends for the first time, you hear orchestral parts, electronic parts and industrial death metal parts within ten seconds, all accompanied by wellfitting vocals. Experimental stuff, and yes, the experiment turned out good! ‘Shit Fueled’ sounds hyperactive in the beginning, but afterwards follows (quite surprisingly) a rather old school track (with exception of the more brutal guitar parts). Maybe the most metal track of the record. The last track I’d like to say a few words about is called ‘Eraser v1.0‘. This is a very electronic track, with excellent dark sampling and keyworks and a marching drumbeat. A track that’ll probably cause some serious movements on the dancefloor!

To compare Limbogott with other bands would be impossible, so I’ll just mention some bands that have a certain similarity at some points. Fans of Dagoba, MXD and Scorngrain will defilitely find a very positive surprise in Limbogott. If you don’t like those bands, then still buy the album anyway. Buy it blindly, succes is guaranteed!
