Artist: GOLEM 101
Album: Prinzip Der Finsternis
Year: 2004

I got to know this band near the end of the year 2004, by following a link on the T3CHN0PH0B1A website. German industrialized metallers of GOLEM 101 combine the powerful forces of Gothic/EBM and industrial metal into a great, dark mix. And these nice words are not just because they are nice guys (trust me, they are), but their music is really promising.

From the first track (the title track) until the last one, ‘Prinzip Der Finsternis’ delivers us a fresh, surprising kind of industrial rock/metal. Their sample work and their drum computer (or are they just using some beats?) are very well constructed. The vocals are a mix between DAS ICH likely and DIVISION ALPHA likely: filled with pain and sorrow. These kind of vocals do really fit in a good way to this kind of music, so it is giving this album some extra vibe. If you ask me what is the best song of this album, I’d say Prinzip Der Finsternis. The powerful intro mixed with the ‘Rammsteiner’ guitarrifs sound so well together on this one, this is definitely one of my favourite industrial songs I’ve heard this year. Conclusion: this album is a great combination between German Gods Das Ich and Rammstein, reviving the ‘Herzeleid’ era with a big dose of industrial gothic power. This album is definitely one of my big surprises this year. Get this one as soon as possible!
