Artist: BREMENN
Album: Promo
Year: 2006
I am one of those people who is always willing to give
an ear to new tunes from all over the world. And, when
it is industrialized metal, I am always willing to
review it on this page too! I wouldn’t write an intro
like this if I hadn’t find something new right? Bremenn
is a five-piece industrial metal band from Poland, which
was formed in 2003. In their biography, the following
was stated: “There is no concrete reason for this band
not to exist. Music is a form of expression that just
attracts me. Its not about some kind of great talent or
abilities. I would rather call it a passion, or a will
to experience some kind of abstract emotions. In the
past I used to play more complex stuff a little
virtuosity - so such a proposition like Bremenn may
surprise some people.” Lets see if they are able to
surprise me too!
2006 brought the release of a three-track promo CD of
this band. ‘Lies Won’t Die’ is the first track on it.
It’s an easy listening song, with lots of electro
elements. The sampling in the beginning reminds me a
little to Zeromancer, while the cold synth works give
this song a cold and dark atmosphere too. In the end,
the guitars seem added to give this song a certain power
boost. It’s a good song, specially for the dark nights.
‘Single Idol’ is the second song, and definitely one of
a different kind. Powerful, danceable beats are flying
through your ears, and a catchy chorus make this song
definitely one to remember. People who love the major
clubhits by Rammstein and Oomph! will definitely
appreciate this one... and I do for sure! Best track of
this promo in my opinion. ‘Historia Ostatnia’ is the
last track of this promo, and the only one in Polish.
According to their biography, this song is written as
some kind of dedication for a movie called “Numer”. The
ones who have seen that movie, and the ones who can
speak Polish, will probably know the meaning of this
song much better than I do, but luckly I still have my
reviewing powers to unleash on this track. It’s a song
with many different faces if you ask me. The powerful
mechanized guitarriffs in the beginning gives you the
idea of an industrial death metal song, but the sampling
afterwards tells you the opposite. Furthermore, there
are some ‘sensitive’ vocal parts hidden here and there
too. This is a cool track if you ask me, but you’ve got
to appreciate some experimental stuff for this one!
After this little track by track review, I would like to
have a few words about the vocals too. This singer,
Jakub Tabaczewski (remember this name when you are
playing a game of ‘metal vocalists scrabble’), has some
great talents if you ask me. He manages to combine deep
melodic vocals with more rawer stuff, and this all in
almost perfect English. But, it’s a little harsh to name
him the only talented one in the band, because they have
proven their talent to me after this promo for sure! I
am already waiting for a full lenght now!
