Artist: HERITECH
Album: Prophecy: The Apocalypse Enigma
Year: 2008

HeritecH was one of the very first discoveries that the Industrialized Metal Webzine's MySpace page brought me. Back then they were just two guys, experimenting with all kinds of electronic and metal styles, trying to mix them as one as good as possible. This already resulted in a killer demo CD called 'Xenopathic Biocide' last year, which scored 95 out of 100 points on our page. One year later, and some extra (guest) members, we already have the follow-up. 'Prophecy: The Apocalypse Enigma' is a six track EP, again self-released, with all brand new tracks. One of the tracks, 'Adventum Rebellionus', was already released on the free compilation F**k em all - volume 2 not too long ago.

The release opens with a short track, called 'Prognostication'. It is an atmospheric, black metal influenced track with essential keylines. It slowly floats over into the next track: 'Adventum Rebellionus'. It's an extravagant track that consists of influences from out of the industrial (black) metal and the ambient corner, played with an old school approach. The song has wicked guitarwork and sick programming and FX works. 'The Second Oracle' is a nearly 8 minutes track, that has (according to the tracklist) been devided into four parts. The first part, named 'Proemial Sermon' on the tracklist, is an atmospheric and very dark introduction - followed by part two; 'An Heir To Prophecy'. This part exists of doomy programming works, very atmospheric guitar- and vocal lines and protounding basslines. Overall, the dark atmosphere is frightening at times. It overflows into part three 'Requiem Intermezzo', which is (like the name says) an instrumental keyboard intermezzo, to get followed by the final part of this track: 'Corporeal Indoctrination'. This final part of the 'Second Oracle' track can be described as midtempo black metal, with spoken word vocals now and then, mixed with electro. 'Modernific Misanthropy' is also devided in several parts. Part one, 'Praemonitus', is an ambient/electronic intro for part two, 'Terra Pestis'. This is a wicked industrial black metal track, with chaotic touches and experimental approaches. It switches from uptempo parts with powerful guitars to midtempo electronic based parts. Part three, 'The Prophecy Fulfilled', is an orchestral outro, that includes ashes of the midtempo programming. The next track is called 'Mausoleum'. It sounds like a spoken word outro with very dark musical works, but the real outro has yet to come: 'Endless Blue'. This is a dark and quiet instrumental outro, which is a nice end for this release.

With 'Prophecy: The Apocalypse Enigma', HeritecH stepped away from the more experimental song structures that were to be found on 'Genopathic Biocide'. In stead, Heritech shows a more mature sound, and lays the accent more on the dark and atmospheric senses. This all gives the song a more mature sound (in both as well song structure and the production), which can be named an essential thing in the evolution of HeritecH. 'Prophecy: The Apocalypse Enigma' is a good release by them once again, which means a consolidation of an already high score, and I am already curious to see what will be thrown at us next!
