Artist: THE SIN:DECAY
Album: Rehabilitation
Year: 2006

So, what do we have here this time...? The Sin:Decay is a young and modern industrial metal band hailing from Finland. There is not much info available online from this band, so I just mention some things that I found on their MySpace profile. This little orchestra exists of three people, and they say to sound like ‘glamorous anguish’. ‘Rehabilitation’ is the first promo release of this band, which was mainly used to inform various press and labels about their existence.

‘We Are All Slaves’ already illustrates the path this band clearly follows. Cold, though catchy keys are mixed with deep protruding riffs and dark, atmospheric vocals. A band like Type O Negative comes in mind here and there, although this band has a more powerful sound. Talking about a powerful sound, the next song on the promo called ‘Celestial Revulsion’ has a very powerful start. The thrashy guitarwork fits the music surprisingly well, and gives this song a certain identity which you cannot deny. The chorus is extremely cool, where the thrashy guitars meet up with the cold sampling... it gives you the feeling of a snowstorm at a gig of Destruction! ‘Cold Dead Skin’ is the next track of the record. Although the title might gives you the impression of a dark and doomy track, the track proves the opposite. Atmospheric and cold music is provided, and the song even has a little bit of a catchy attitude. The vocals match perfectly with the sampling on this song (just like it does on this whole record by the way), and the song turned out to be a perfect one to dream away on. Trust me, I tried it already! ‘Deathlike Addiction’ contains pounding drumwork from the beginning, and when they dissapear for a litte time when they got replaced by some industrial sampling you already know that this track is a killer one again. Dark parts are followed by beautiful atmospheric sampling and even one part where you can practise your headbanging on! ‘Give It Away’ starts with the most heavy guitars on this record. The bassriffs are like a heartbeat on this record, and the cold sampling that seems particular for this band hasn’t dissapeared in this track either. ‘C76i8k76’ is definitely the track with the weirdest track title. And to be honest, it sounds very different from the other tracks too. Some exmerimental, dark electro/EBM likely stuff is provided in here, with whispering and thundering vocals all in one. A track that sucks you out of the world the preverious tracks brought you in, so you can safely land on your own feet again. In the end, this promo turned out to be everything you hope for when you hear a new band. Some descriptions of mine: unique. Talented. Special. Seriously kickass. Well, I am sure you get the point now: this band managed to create an own, fresh sound with their first promo already! Make sure to keep an eye on this trio, I am sure I will! And soon you can get hold of your own release of The Sin:Decay, because a split with ...And Oceans and Havoc Unit is ready to be released!
