People who are reading this review and are familiar with my review of the demo EP “From The Dust” by French band Zorglüb know that they already managed to become a positive surprise back then, and that I was really looking forward to a full lenght release of this by Ministry, Oomph!, KMFDM and Nine Inch Nails influenced band. People who are reading this review and are not familiar with my review of the demo EP “From The Dust” by French band Zorglüb know that they already managed to become a positive surprise back then, and that I was really looking forward to a full lenght release of this by Ministry, Oomph!, KMFDM and Nine Inch Nails influenced band now as well, since they’ve read the first line of this review. People who think this intro is useless so far, I agree, so lets mention some real information now. Zorglüb is already existing since 2000 and released several demos so far. Their new album is called Schizo Affective Disorder, is released in 2007 and is distributed by Season of Mist.

‘To Dust’ is the first track of the album. It kicks off with some wicked guitarwork, to be followed by an easy listening track with a dark atmosphere. It contains cold synthlines and very wellfitting dark and raw vocalworks. ‘Phantasms Of Perversity’ comes up next. This track is clearly more industrial influenced, with some wicked beats here and there and more powerful guitarwork. ‘Great Collector’ is the third song of the album. This one contains rhytmic beats, surprisingly fresh keylines and some Samael likely parts. This all combined turns this song into my favourite one of this record. ‘Everyone’ has a touch of the Reise Reise album of Rammstein in the beginning, but this song turns out to be more diverse to be called some kind of copy. Specially the cleaner vocal parts sound very refreshing. ‘Without Conscience’ is some kind of ambient intermezzo, and ‘Burn’ follows. This is a very modern industrial metal track, with more brutal parts and parts that are more gothic influenced. The synthline on this track is clearly used as the spine. ‘Inner Fear’ kicks off slowly, but when it kicks off it’s heavy like Hell. Very bouncing bassline, cool (lead) guitarwork and excellent synth parts and industrial samples re featured with ease. ‘Weak Again’ follows, and features a very dark intro, diverse vocal lines and maybe the coolest synthlines of the album. Next up comes ‘Shoot The Clown’. The first seconds sound extremely weird, but when the real track kicks off it happens to be an easy listening though heavy industrial metal track with very wicked guitarwork and samplings. ‘No God’ is the next one. It contains little chaotic vocal parts, heavy guitarwork and a catchy chorus. The cold intermezzo (with cool synth parts) is very wellfitting. ‘My Own Spread’ sounds like a mix between bands like Malmonde and Samael, which definitely is a compliment. ‘Nightmare Circle’ is already the last track of the album. This is an instrumental outro, where you mostly need to pay attention to the synth lines.

When the album was finished, I took a look at the playing time of the album: fourty-three and a half minutes. Was I really listening to this album so long? Did I miss some tracks? Yes it’s hard to believe the album is finished already, but time really flies when you’re having this much fun. Fans of bands like Samael, Rammstein, Malmonde and maybe even Fear Factory should really check this stuff out, and I think with a better production, this stuff even sounds three times better!
