There is a lot happening these days in France.
Industrial bands like Malmonde and Dagoba managed to
break through, and shock-rockers of Crack Ov Dawn
probably will when their new album comes out. Also from
France is Punish Yourself. They play shock-rock like
Crack ov Dawn, but they have a different style.
Sexplosive Locomotive is their currently latest album.
This whole album is build with pretty much the same
concept. Shock-rock track titles, snoaring guitars and
very powerfull basslines. Mix this with Marilyn Manson
and Ministry-likely vocals and blasting beats and you
will get the point of this 'indus n' roll' band. People
who have already judged that this is 'one of those band
who only care about their image', you are terribly
wrong. With Sexplosive Locomotive, this band doesnt
bring something new, but they definitely bring something
exciting. Try to listen to songs like "Primitive"
without moving on your chair or on your feet. Try to
play "See You Later Alligator" at your birthday party,
without getting the people on the dancefloor. Try to
listen to this album without liking at least one song!
This is a record which has a little of everything that
in this genre can be mentioned as exceptional. Some
things that also need to be mentioned are the songs 'CNN
War' en 'U.S.D. (we are ready)', where this band show
their disgust to the United States. I don't really like
political messages in songs, but this time I forgive
them. So much power in both of the songs! In the end
this record can be licensed under the so-called "easy
listening"-categorie, and I am sure that this band will
steal some hearts with their music and their live show.
For fans of Marilyn Manson, but I think this band could
also be a positive surprise for fans of Unk!, Xe-None
and Dope Stars Inc. Now gimme some more "Gimmie
Cocaine"!
