Artist: EVEN VAST
Album: Teach Me How To Bleed
Year: 2007
It happens quite often that bands or labels add a very
promising and exciting biography to their promo package.
According to the biography which is added to this
release by a band named Even Vast, this album should
include ´gloomy and inspired melodies with new modern
electronic grooves that makes their sound absolutely
fresh and amazing for all the fans of great dark gothic
music. Now, I can really enjoy this kind of music, so I
had high expectations on this.
And...? Well ladies and gentleman, false hope. The key
lines sound inspirationless, while the guitarwork sound
like a broken microwave. The sampling is average here
and there, but most of the time it sounds flat and very
cliché. If you think you´ve had it all, then beware,
because there´s still the vocalist left. Although she
has a beautiful voice as a matter of fact, her accent is
terrible and irritates me already after three vocal
lines. For example, on the opening track ´Infected´;
when she speaks out the title of it in the chorus, it
seems like she says “I’m farting”... in fact, I had to
look at the tracklist to find out what she really tried
to say. The fact that the best track on this record is a
weak Joy Division cover should say enough.
Now, lets explain my final vote here. 10 points because,
despite her accent, the vocalist has a beautiful voice.
20 points because the artwork is really beautiful, which
is more or less the best part on this one. Maybe I
should turn it into some kind of mini-poster, so this CD
will not totally die an unknown death in my CD
collection.
Vote: 30 / 100
