Artist: KILL THE THRILL
Album: Tellurique
Year: 2005

Well, what do we have here? Kill The Thrill from France is a band that already exists for more than 15 years. They already played for big bands as support before releasing their debut album in 1993. But now it is 2005, and the Tellurique promo is in my cd player. Described by themselves as "an original style that can be seen a crossroad between metal, industrial, post rock and new wave", they woke up my curiousity.

Right now, I am not Gerardo anymore. I am a sailor. An explorer in the middle ages, to be exactly. Every country I pass by shows its own art. "A Little Salt for a Better Feeling" brings me into a world of war, anguish and sorrow. Imagine you are sitting in a theatre, watching a play of Shakespeare. The music is reaching your ears, and obeys you to dream away. For six minutes and eight seconds, I am caught, paralyzed in a cold river of sorrow. Slowly drowning, until the wind brings you into the next island. "Permanent Imbalance" is a similar, though very different country. As the name may reveil, it is hard to find balance in here. Complexity brings you into deep abysses and high mountains. Through the rain and the freezing cold. Like a vicker walking through the graveyard, covered in tears. It will not let you go, until you reach “An Indefinite Direction”. Doom rules this country. Lightening fire which burns the horizons. Sailing away... until “Non Existence”. A country which has reached spring season already, but still did not overcome winter. But when you reach the end, the blackness has mostly faded away. “Soave” is tortured. Lost. Shattered. What happened? A war? A disaster? We will never know I think. “Like Cement” has to be a colony of the very first country. The same kinda atmosphere, the same kinda river. In “Diaphragme”, confusing rules the land. Relief on the one side, bemusement on the other side. In the end, bemusement seems to take control. “Head” is the smallest country of the journey. Over here, rebellion of unsatisfied farmers. Marching through snow, rain and wind. Thousands of miles, one by one they die. Until in the end, there is nobody left. “Body” aint a real country, but is the name of the next sea we enter. Storm, tidal waves and lightening has surrounded us. Will we be able to survive? Yes, because in the end the water went flat and we reached “Mistaken Solutions”. Judgements of decapitating and slicings are the daily ingredients. In the end, the anger is uncontrollable and things collapse. We sail away to “Us and Them”, a country in war. Millions of victims, and in the end total chaos takes control of the land. Then, we reach “The Finish”. A quiet country, where we can order our experiences. I feel privileged, but very confused. Such different countries, and not even a world war. Complex coldness. An orchestral rain. Atmospheric misery. And all made possible because of the Season of Mist. After almost one hour and ten minutes, I am awake. Back in my own humble little room. Was this all for real, or did I only dream away in my own theatre? Whatever it was, I have the urge to press the play button again. To listen to some Elend, Plan E or Thee Maldoror Kollektive, but first once more Tellurique. To experience the very same again.
