Album: The Dancefl-Horror: N.A.S.A. vs. I.N.R.I.
Year: 2006

Italian space metal band T3chn0ph0b1a is one of the first talented unsigned band that I managed to pick up with my work for IndustrializedMetal.tk with the release of their Albedo Level: 0% demo. As you can read elsewhere on this website, they already managed to leave some impressive look on my face with their first release. A lot of good things have happened with these friendly aliens since then. The former drummer now plays bassguitar, and the drum beats are created by machine violence. Also, a new alien named DusTech was added to the band to give birth to some wicked electronic sounds. The band managed to create a strongly growing fanbase worldwide, and has done remixes for Dope Stars Inc., Syrian and more. Now, after some major delays, the aliens finally present to us their latest weapon to conquer the Earth: ‘The Dancefl-Horror: N.A.S.A. vs. I.N.R.I.’. On this EP we find two brand new tracks, one re-recorded track and six remixes. The remixes are done by major acts (MortIIs, XP8, ...) but also by some still undiscovered talents (Golem 101, SANdBLASTING). Houston, how do we have to solve this new problem?

Well, first lets analyze it doc! The first track, “N.A.S.A.”, illustrates that these aliens don’t do bullshit. A powerful mix between electro and metal, with excellent use of the raw screams of vocalist Snuff 238. The influences of new bandmember DusTech, who co-wrote the new songs, are clearly hearable and brought the whole band upon a higher level. One single bitchy thing I have about this song: in my opinion the guitars could be a little more louder, specially in the (catchy) chorus where the electro almost overfloods the guitarwork. “I.N.R.I.” is a more atmospheric song, which can be sorted in the same map with ‘H.T.M.L.’ and ‘Wrapped in Eternit’ of the preverious demo. Some spacy sampling is perfectly mixed with the power of the electric guitar. In my opinion, the voice of Snuff 238 are on its best on songs like this. Catchy and conceptual! Now before I will review the remixes, I have to say this about both the new songs. Compared to the preverious songs, the major changes are the production and the maturity of the music. The production is nearly professional (I have heard albums released on Nuclear Blast with a worse sound quality), which is a huge compliment to these guys. The music has also become more mature. Not to say that the elder songs were immature, but the new ones have more variation and a better vibe. The first remix on this release is done by industrial God MortIIs. His ‘Return of the Funky Dead’ mix of N.A.S.A. doesn’t sound like the original song at all, in fact it is kinda hard to recognise the original in it. Some very industrialized stuff is provided, and in the end I must admit that this remix gets a little boring. Not a bad remix at all, but I had expected something better of this guy! Maybe the November Process remix of I.N.R.I. will be able to satisfy me better? Yes, definitely! This trio managed to transform this song into a danceable, futuristic EBM song in vein of themselves! This remix also managed to explore a different view on the vocals, which sound better on this music than the usual distortion. Beeing an XP8 fan as well for some time, I really looked forward to their remix of N.A.S.A. And I can assure you, it was worth the wait! Some outstanding instrumental work are mixed with some vocal samples which sail on the music. The best between the two worlds! Get your ass up and hit the dancefl-horror! I-i-i-ii-ignition! From a band that is influenced by space technology themselves, I think we can expect some outragious remix. And that is what Syrian gives us with their mix of I.N.R.I.! The people who are familiar with their dancefloor hit ‘Future Storm’ will pretty much get the idea of this remix. Same concept, but more easy listening and some sampling straight out of the original song! Excellent remix to say the least! Next, prepare for 10 minutes in some kind of robotic coma. SANdBLASTING provides a long, sick, insane, weird but awesome remix version of N.A.S.A. with lots of different elements (from GOA to EBM to synthpop)! Imagine that you are caught inside a computer, trying to get your way out. You are running into all components with their different sounds, but you cannot find your way out. Voices in your head are confusing you time after time, until you have found your way out after ten minutes. And how would it be, to hear the best remix of the record after you have just unleashed yourself? Well, I know that feeling now! James of Golem 101 managed to make a killer remix of I.N.R.I., in vein of their own industrial darkrock style. The DNA of both the bands are mixed, and the new clone gives us lots of beauty. Powerful, snoaring guitars mixed with dark parts and atmospheric sampling. Yes my friends, this remix can be labelled as ‘perfect’ and is my personal favourite remix of the record! The final track is a new version of their old song H.T.M.L. The new version is released of everything that has something to do with metal, so expect an atmospheric, sludgy electro song with whispering vocals. Easy listening stuff, but kinda weird compared with the original one. Yes my fellow humans, the time has come to build your own safety shelter. The aliens are coming closer, and the invasion is near! I know it is still very early 2006, but this is definitely an open sollicitation to a top 3 position in the yearlist. Houston, please do not solve this problem!
