Artist: IPERYT
Album: Totalitarian Love Pulse
Year: 2006

Not too long ago I reviewed the debut EP 'Particular Hatred' by Iperyt, which turned out to be a real positive surprise to me. Their "Satanik Terror Metal" turned out to be a blasting holocaust of sounds, without losing control of it all, and apperantly Agonia Records (of which I remember doing the Feldgrau release back then) was impressed too and signed this band right away. The first result of this new collaboration is the debut album 'Totalitarian Love Pulse', which consists of eleven brand new tracks to explore.

A lot of industrial black metal bands that are using drumcomputers are a bit overdoing that. They blast the programming works at full speed, without thinking about any sign of melody. The latest releases done by Blacklodge and Impure Domain already showed that there are bands that actually dó think about melody and variation, and Iperyt can certainly be added to that list. 'Totalitarian Love Pulse' contains a lot of variation and intelligent musical structure, compared to any other 11-track industrial black metal release. 'The Silent Murderer' for example has lots of melodic guitars, without stepping an inch away from their original industrial black metal approach. 'Abuse You' has thrashy influences, and very experimental bashing programming works. 'Calm Regained' is less brutal (although there are many blasting elements in here too) and more atmospheric based, while 'Scorched Earth Creed' (the shortest track) is one Hell of a noisy holocaust. 'Filthy Criminals' on the other hand is probably the most experimental track of them all, with wicked guitarwork (plus solo!), a heavy bassline and extremely insane programming. The best track on the release is probably 'Wolfcalls'. It has the most insane programming I've heard in years, which is excellently mixed with the raw vocals and the strong and diverse guitarwork.

Although Iperyt is definitely the most diverse industrial black metal band I know, this doesn't mean that they're the most accessable one as well. With 'Totalitarian Love Pulse', they gave true meaning to their description of "Satanik Terror Metal" once again... need more explanations? Go and find this one if you dare, unless you're on prozac because this aint stuff for the weaker souls.
