Artist: EDENYZED
Album: Vanity Moves The World
Year: 2006

When two Italian guys got the idea to create a band which combines the good points of eelctronic and symphonic elements into metal, this sounds like a very ambitious idea. The result did not let us wait that long though. Edenyzed was born in 2004, and their debut album came out in 2006. According to their press kit, 'Vanity Moves the World' has been created in very less time and it should sound like 'electro-metal without leaving classic, symphonic and decadent elements and the references to harsh EBM'. Curious now? Well, I am!

And the curiousity dissapeared very quick. After the one minute and fourteen second intro, when the first real song started, to be exactly. 'Eternal Equilibrium' sounds better than I had dreamed of after reading their own explanation of their music! Some cold and atmospheric pieces are alternated with symphonic black metal part without losing the forces of industrial. 'Wille zur Macht' proves that this band is not a so-called one-hit-wonder. Without sounding like the preverious track, they have build this song on the same concept. Dark gothic metal parts with icy screams and deep clean vocals is a good way to describe this. 'Apathethik' is a little bit more industrial based. A harsh EBM beat mixed with some great orchestral parts and vocals that go straight through your bones. A feeling of despair, gloom and hope at once. Masterpiece! When you read the lyrics of 'Lament of Es' you definitely feel lonely afterwards. The way they have expressed this within the musically part of the song is outstanding. Theatral parts and atmospheric pieces, with whispering vocals and threatening synth parts make this song technically way above decent. 'Eden of Pain' sounds like the perfect soundtrack for a middle ages movie. For background music of a ruin that is getting demolished. For a knight that is getting killed in front of his lovers eyes. Oh well, you'll get the idea. 'Furious Satyros' brings you into the future. With sampling that other Italian bands like Syrian and T3chn0ph0b1a use very often, they manage to let this track sound like you are on a space ship reaching for the moon. And you know, when you don't reach the moon you will always land on the stars! And not to mention the excellent theatral parts in this song! 'Endless Fall' is more atmospheric again. The EBM influences in this song even sound a bit surprising to be honest. But good surprises are always welcome, right? 'Vanity Moves the World' is maybe the most metal track of the album. Didn't expect to be a track like this as one of the last tracks of the album, but it will not spoil the fun at all. Easy listening stuff, which will be appreciated by fans of doom metal and fantasy metal as well. 'The Empire' continues to walk that path. Lyrically the shortest song of the record, sonically almost the longest. The greatest orchestral parts of the album are hidden in this track. 'Dionisiac Cruelty' is the longest and definitely most experimental track of the record. This sounds like a flashback to all the other songs of the album and the influences used in them, which makes this song to a killer final song.

The silence afterwards is killed immidiately, because the reply-button has proven its use with this album again! A self produced debut album of 44 minutes, without any fillers, and without sounding like any other band.. where do you find that these days? Edenyzed proves that this very select disease still exsists. Ensoph ft. Stormlord comes close, but this band has way more originality. Yes ladies and gentleman, this is just superb! Now lets hope that some major label will have the balls to sign these talents and to send them on a world tour!
