Low Distortion Unit was founded as a solo project by
Thierry Desseaux in 2001. Not much time later other band
members joined, and the band was specialized in creating
soundtracks for short movies like "Alone in the Dark"
(2001) and "Cold Fear" (2005). Nowadays, the band
experiments with all kinds of new stuff and Thierry
decided to give me the preverious tracks released on a
short film, a video game and other advertising. I named
it ‘Various Promo Songs’ because I think this name
reflects pretty well the package. In the end, I will
have a few words about some samples of new tracks, so
people get familiar with this project more and more and
will know what to expect.
‘La Nuit Du Veneur - Short Film’ is a nice piece of
sound. I assume it is used as background music for a
more darker scene in the movie. Martijn van Dooren, who
is also on this site, makes this kind of stuff too but
more noisy... you might get the idea. Hyperactive end on
the song. ‘Megalex – Advertising’ is an instrumental,
atmospheric song. Built on different forces (electro /
harsh EBM / metal) this song sounds like a cool mix of
both the industrial and the metal world. ‘USS Antarctica
- video game’ sounds like a march in the Middle Ages.
This shows again a different side of the band, which
clearly has influences from the ancient times too. Great
synth work hidden here and there, and the march turns
out to be a little danceable at the end! Two samples of
new songs were given to me as well. I will not bother
you with the given names (weird! haha) but I can explain
a bit about the style. It can be related to 80’s gothic
stuff like Nine Inch Nails and Kubrick. Expect some
instrumental bouncing and catchy stuff. Unfortunately
there are not vocals added to it yet, so I cannot
analyze this part. Well, I hope I made people curious
with this rather unusual review in a way, because Low
Distortion Unit is worthy enough to be checked out!
