Artist: VISIONI GOTICHE
Album: Il Segreto del Demone: Parte 1
Year: 2008
Visioni Gotiche is a pretty young band hailing from Italy. Originally formed as a duo in 2007, the band currently operates as a trio. Despite the fact that the band, who says to be specialized in "the creation of soundtracks for short horror movies", is only one year old at the moment, they already released two albums ('Vampires' and 'Spiritism') in their birthyear, and are about to release their third album 'IlSegreto del Demone: Parte 1' upon mankind. This release contains eight tracks.
The release opens with 'La Casa Del Sogno', which is a dark and atmospheric instrumental track including cold piano works, gentle though strong drumming and parts variating from ambient and dark electro to soft and threatning passages. 'Nightmare' is a more old school based track, with easy going electro rock influences. It includes a heavy bassline, distorted guitarwork and disturbing vocal lines that fits the song surprisingly well. 'Ipnosi' comes up next. It's an atmospheric midtempo old school gothic rock/metal song, with ambient and electronic sampling and dark, atmospheric intermezzo's. The track ends with a threatning horrific piano play, accompanied by dark keyworks. 'L'Angelo Soffrente' has crushing guitars, splitting female vocal lines and powerful drumming. It's a more heavy sounding track, despite the fact that there's no lose of atmosphere. 'Visioni Da Un Funerale' opens with clean guitars, to be followed by atmospheric keylines and wellfitting programming works. The track, thats over eight minutes long, turns out to be mostly ambient based, with some synth pop influences and a very gentle approach and female vocal parts. 'Oscura Presenza' is a dark instrumental intermezzo, containing dark riffing and atmospheric sampling, to be followed by 'La Ricerca Della Veritá'. It's again a pretty old school electro rock song, with modern gothic influences and an atmospheric approach. 'Ritual Nero' is the final track on the release. It's a wellchosen end of this release, with it's ambient tunes dividing the more metal parts of the track.
With 'Il Segreto del Demone: Parte 1', Visioni Gotiche managed to deliver a pretty interesting album for fans of the most darkest sides of the darkness. Clearly influenced by bands such as Killing Joke and Fields of the Nephilm, they bring you their creations in total Goblin/Daemonia worship. Fans of the mentioned bands should definitely give this band a shot - and other open minded people as well, because you don't get to hear this kind of stuff every day.
